Description:

Meet Tortie! Tortie is named for her coloring pattern, tortoiseshell. She is one of the most adventurous kittens I've ever met. When we bring the kittens somewhere new she is always the first to run out of the carrier and explore! She's also very friendly; when we come into the room she runs out to greet us before the other kittens even get a chance to stand up. She and her litter mates spend their time sleeping, eating, and ROMPING around the room. She is excited to play with people and other cats. We have two adult fixed males who enjoy playing with the kittens and we frequently have people come by at weighing time to socialize them, and occasionally they bring their cats to play too!

Update June 9, 2014: The kittens have all been weaned and are ready to go home to their forever homes! Momma cat had mastitis so we had to transition them to solid food soaked in KMR (kitten milk replacer) two weeks ago. Thankfully they were already curious about and nibbling at momma's solid food, so it was an easy transition. Since they started eating solid food they have grown so quickly! They are full of energy and enjoy running down the halls and exploring up and down the stairs. If you would like to meet the kittens please send me a message and schedule a time. We are located in Daejeon, in the center of the country. For information about adoption check out ARK's page on adoption. http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-process

We weigh and monitor the health of all of the kittens daily. Last week they had their first trip to the vet, who pronounced them to be in good health. Last week they started self-weaning and began using the litter box. Tortie was the first to use the box! Now, after a rough start (I lost a couple sweaters to the litter training process) everyone is fully litter box trained.

She was born on 2014-04-20, along with 4 other kittens. The mother, Daisy, was rescued in October, but unfortunately the rescuer had an un-neutered male, which after two months resulted in pregnancy. Before Daisy gave birth, the rescuer decided they couldn't care for her or the kittens any more and asked for a foster to take them. They've been with me since the day the kittens were born. They are currently up for adoption to new loving homes! The kittens will be ready to go home with their new families once they are 8-9 weeks old, starting around June 15.

I hope we can find their forever homes by the beginning of July, as I will be going to the USA for one month and haven't been able to arrange a sitter for 10 total cats (my two cats, two of my friend's cats, Daisy, and her five kittens!)

I want to hug and boop that nose. They are all 5 weeks now, right? How much mischief are they getting into daily?

Rosalie's picture

All of the mischief! Just this morning I was trying to get ready for work and was mauled by five little kittens. It was one of the more pleasant maulings of my life. ;) Yes, they're five weeks now. They're getting much more coordinated now in their stumbling runs about the house.

Are they doing the wind around your ankles until you fall on your face? I had that with just one, I can't imagine you can escape with 6, 5 of them tiny.

You know it! At least that means there are a lot of little creatures that like attention. ;)

I can just see it: " Argg what a bad day, just need to relax" * flop on to bed...and mobbed by tiny fuzzy balls* DAWWWWWW
