Bambi has a couple of really great families that are being finalized for her adoption. Hopefully we will have great news soon about Bambi's new family!!

23 January 23 2013
Bambi hit the foster mom jackpot with Lisa and her pups! Bambi is a highly smart and trained Jindo puppy. She know her basic obedience tricks and when her mom can't get home in time for a walk, Bambi knows to pee and or poo directly over the bathroom drain.

She loves other dogs and will need work making sure she stays comfortable with people of all sizes, types and ages.

Turns out she is also a very rare breed of Jindo - the Black and Tan Jindo and if she had papers would cost someone a pretty penny!

Bambi is doing amazing. She has learned many commands since leaving the shelter and is 100% house trained and crate trained. She has finished losing all of her baby teeth. She loves all dogs, but needs more work on socialization with people - she has become a bit timid of new people, but warms up.

Her foster mom believes she will be smaller that anticipated. Probably the size of a Cocker Spaniel. The vet believes that she is Jindo mix, which would explain why she is so smart and picks up new commands very quickly.

There are a couple of adoption applications in for Bambi, but so far, nothing has been finalized. Please feel free to submit an adoption application - infomration below.

Bambi is LOVING the life outside of the shelter. Her foster mom said she is up-to-date on all of her shots and her fur is looking so much better and feeling so much softer every day. She does have a bald line down her spine from trauma that two vets believe will never grow hair, and so far... nothing. With her fur growing longer, it is covering up the bald some and helping.

This girl loves to come in for cuddles and loves to spend time bouncing around with her foster brothers and sisters. She is fully house-trained and is now also crate-trained thanks to her wonderful foster mommy!

Bambi is settling in well with her new foster family. She now has big dogs to play with and is loving it. He foster mom also took her out to a restaurant for her very first Thanksgiving dinner with a couple of her puppy friends!

She is a VERY sweet and funny little puppy who LOVES to play and LOVES to get some cuddle time! She is growing everyday! You don't want to miss out on these moments with her!

Bambi has completed three-weeks worth of medication to fight off her bacterial skin infection. She has now been given the "all-clear" by her doctor and can go on to her new approved foster home in Seoul with a really great volunteer.

She is growing bigger every day and her fur has grown in beautifully on her previously bald feet. She has gained weight and I can no longer see her bones sticking out. He fur is still pretty terrible, but that can take months to completely clear up and start feeling and looking beautiful.

Here is a video of Bammi showing off her understanding of her first command ever... "sit".

Bambi has really blown me away. She has not had one single potty accident in the house. She is able to hold her bathroom for the 9 hours that I am away at work and the up to 10 hours we slept in over the weekend. We were working on crate training, but I have been testing her out of her crate and she has no accidents and has not destroyed anything or gotten into something she should not have.

She does not bark when I leave and gets along well with my two dogs.... on her end anyway. My two boys do not enjoy puppies though and are going to be really excited when her cute booty is outta their house.

She will be finishing up her first round of meds for a bacterial skin infection this week and we will go back to the vet to test for skin mites and possible start some more treatment. She LOVES to eat and it is finally starting to show that she is putting on some weight!

Some good things for Bambi.
1. Mr. Park at Asan shelter was kind enough to give Bambi another medicated bath and then drive her to the KTX station to meet me where I took her to a vet to look over her condition and start her treatment.
2. Her outcome looks better than we though regarding her skin. She is on antibiotics and should be ready for a foster home or forever home in 1-2 weeks.
3. Former Asan sheter dog, Penny (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/dog/485) had her mom and dad to purchase and donate a "BigPuppy Recovery bed" for her.

Bambi is a 3 month old puppy who will be ready for a long term foster home in 2 weeks! Please, if you are interested in keeping her out of the shelter this winter, contact me about fostering or adopting.

Bambi is a fairly new addition to the Asan shelter. She is a quite little puppy who doesn't get enough attention due to her skin fungus that is most likely contagious to the other dogs.

Bambi desperately needs to get into a foster home or an adoptive home ASAP as the cold weather is approaching. Due to her skin condition, she is practically hairless. She is also not doing well on the shelter's raw chicken diet and is just skin and bones. She has no fur and no fat - and her pen is outside in this cold weather.

Dogs literally die at some of the shelters during the winter because they freeze to death. If you are not in a position to foster or adopt this sweet girl, then please pass on her profile to help get the word out there.

Two questions: is he being treated for his skin condition and how big will he likely end up being?

Hunt's picture

He cannot be treated until he goes into a more permanent situation. He wont be given the medications he needs as often as he needs it at the shelter. I think he is done growing.

Hunt's picture

Marla Joy, I should know more about his size and needs for his condition after this weekend. I'm going to swing him by a vets office to give me some more information on him so that I can pass it on to everyone else!

I'm just sick about him being out there as I sit INSIDE with a jacket on and a blanket over my legs, drinking hot coffee and am still cold.

marlajoy's picture

Yeah, poor baby! I don't think he'll make it through the winter - especially not if he is really skinny and living outdoors! Man! I am hoping to have space for another foster or two in the coming weeks so I am trying to figure out who is most in need.

Hunt's picture

You are amazing as always MarlaJoy! You will have to give me tips on how you manage such a large brood! We are going to try and compile a list of pups who REALLY need a foster home during the winter. IMO, this pup is #1. I'm also pretty nervous for a senior chi and a couple of the maltis. I don't want to arrive at the shelter and find any frozen babies. If you are interested in this pup, I am totally up for handling the bulk, if not all of the bill for a quarantine at the vet before introducing him to Alexis and Chloe.

marlajoy's picture

Sounds awesome, Hunt! My brood pretty much manage themselves. They get along so well! Give the dogs lots of exercise and healthy food; give the cats lots of space to play and things to climb; they all get a ton of love from me and each other and the rest they take care of themselves! :) I will more than likely be 2 or 3 cats less very soon though so my home will feel very empty unless I add again! :) Please make sure I get a copy of that list!

Hunt,
Is there a profile for the senior chi you mentioned??

Hunt's picture

Here is the senior Chi's profile page. We really need to get her into foster care as well, if not an adoptive home! http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/dog/1372

You are fostering Bambi, Hunt?!

Hunt's picture

No I am not a permanent foster home. I have two dog-faced-boys who really dislike puppies. I pulled her because I wanted to get her health up to par in hopes that it would encourage someone who was otherwise leery to foster or adopt.

I just LOVE her eyebrows!!!!

ImE's picture

Very cute puppy.... but I thought bambi in the movie was a boy (isn't it a boys name?)

marlajoy's picture

I had a poodle growing up named Bambi that was a girl! It's just a name. :)

ImE's picture

I know .... It's just one of the mysteries of the universe. The movie was a boy (not a common name before movie) and than after movie became a girls name

marlajoy's picture

Gosh, she is looking SO good and healthy!! :) What's the story with that other sweet dog in the video with a bum leg? Edit: Nevermind, I just found your blog and the sad story behind him. Poor boy!

Hello! I tried the contact info for more information about Bambi but no response---could totally be my gmail acting up! It does that once in a while. I am interested in adopting Bambi...she is such a sweet girl! Her face is beautiful! And she is just SO cute! I just moved to Korea last weekend and am still looking for an apartment but as soon as I get one I will be wanting a pup to keep me company (and to be my best bud here!) Please contact me if there is another way I can find out about her ! I would love to visit her!

I am going to be moving at the end of February into a pet friendly place. I live in Seoul and would love to meet her.

I've always thought Bambi was cute as a button. I'm thrilled to see that an adoption is pending!

Bambi's skin condition cleared up. She will always have a bald strip down her back from where a layer of skin was somehow removed. She is living happily with Mom, dad and a puppy sibling!
