Johnny the lil' yorkie from Jeonju, Now Needs You!

Little Johnny first came to our ARK community's attention when Raygeenah took a chance that someone here might hear her plea from San Francisco and save this itty bitty dog from the bitter cold. She wasn't sure that help would even come but despite the 9,000+ kilometers away she tried...
After an update was sent via email to Raygeenah she exclaimed:
I cannot thank you [everyone] enough. I am so happy Johnny has been rescued. You have gone above and beyond what anyone would expect. I thought posting on ARK was such a long shot, but I'm so glad I did, and I feel so lucky and inspired and humbled to have met you.
To me this is exactly what ARK is and does for the abandoned animals in Korea. We have always inspired one another in our capacity to help each other in our common goal. Today we are once again leaning on our community to help Johnny overcome neglect.
See Johnny is now safe, and warm but he has a long recovery ahead of him. Corpsgirl is fostering him; she is a very experience foster mom and is working to help him feel safe and secure. She reports:
Our little Yorkie boy is so sweet. He is still nervous, and he trembles when I start talking to him. However, once he is in my arms, he quickly settles in and snuggles. For now I'm keeping him kenneled. I want my other dogs to become accustomed to his presence. Being kenneled permits him to become accustomed to their company but feel "safe" in his own protected space. They all have the opportunity to mingle when we go outside for our bathroom breaks. When he goes potty and I praise him for being a good boy, his whole body wags with excitement. He melts my heart. It will take a little time, but he will become confident. So far he hasn't barked once, but eventually he will become comfortable with us (me and the three dogs in my house).
Along with these things he has a host of small illness to overcome and one great big one. He has a nasty skin infection, small infection causing blood to appear in his urine and stage one heartworms. (I will post details about his condition in the comments section below.)
Fundraising goal:
500,000krw= this will help cover his heartworm treatment, full blood panel, and his antibiotics for his skin and urine infection.
**Please note we are trying to solicit another dog to have the treatment with Johnny, as two small dogs can share one vile of treatment. If we find another dog, this will half the price of heartworm treatment! If we have raised the full 500,000krw by that time then please know the rest of the money will go towards other vet bills for Corpsgirl's other foster dogs.
(We are in the process of collecting receipts and creating a donation request for the canine flu she battled a few months ago with 3 foster dogs! If you would like to check with her vet, Chungwha, Dr. Oh can fill you in on the hundreds of dollars she has already spent on foster animals just in the last year. She works very closely with Dr. Oh and follows his protocol to a tee.)
Treatments given and/or needed:
So far Lil Johnny had to be completely shaved due to skin problems, a full blood panel to help diagnosis why he is passing blood, and of course the heartworm test which revealed heartworms.
Thus far Corpsgirl has spent:
- Mar 13th 150,000 W .............................Blood work, heartworm test, grooming
- Estimating 350,00 W.............................Heartworm treatment
(please note this is a very conservative figure and may cost more in the long run.) - Estimating 150,000 W ..........................Followup appointments and vaccines--this will be covered by the adoption fee.

Full details of Johnny's care and condition as sent via Corpsgirl through email:
"Johnny had to be completely shaved. His hair was so long, matted, and knotted, that he has some "sore" spots on his skin. Dr. Oh is confident the sores were caused by dirt and hair knots that were so tight the skin was
pulled and irritated.
Dr. Oh thinks Johnny had to have been in constant pain.
Of course, Johnny has really bad dandruff, but that will also go away with time, good nutrition, baths with "Head and Shoulders" shampoo, and living in a clean environment.
A full blood panel was done. Johnny's organ functions are all with normal levels, however, he does have an infection since he has blood in his urine. Instead of putting him on antibiotics for two weeks, I opted for the more
potent one-time antibiotic shot. It is more expensive, but it more effective and will speed up Johnny's recovery so that he can start gaining weight.
The most critical news is that Johnny is heartworm positive. The good news is that Dr. Oh thinks the heartworm is only Stage 1. (It's possible it could be early Stage 2, but with functions good in all major organs, his chances of
beating heartworm are very good.)
However, Johnny is too weak and underweight to start heartworm treatment immediately. I conferred with Dr. Oh and my other vet, Dr. Choi (who successfully treated my foster dog, Rusty of heartworm), and it was agreed that we will wait approximately 3-4 weeks before starting treatment. We need to ensure that Johnny gains weight and gets strong before zapping his little body with the toxic heartworm meds. Johnny only weighed 2 kilos. He is so skinny. We will return in two weeks to get weighed again.
Heartworm treatment is relatively expensive. Both Dr. Oh and Dr. Choi will contact me if any dogs are brought in to their clinics for heartworm treatment. If this happens, then Johnny may be treated at a reduced cost. (Heartworm medicine comes in one dosage, but the amount given is based on the dogs weight. There is usually always "leftover" medicine.
Since Johnny only weighs 2 kilos, there will most likely be enough "leftover" to treat him.) If another dog is found then the cost of treatment could be split.
Dr. Oh gave me a discount on services already provided (antibiotic, full blood panel, x-rays, flea guard, vitamins, grooming, etc). He also loaded me up with good puppy food. (My dogs eat adult food, but Dr. Oh wants Johnny on puppy chow (more vitamins and higher calories) for 3-4 weeks. I'm monitoring his stools and
urine. Again, with the antibiotics, the blood should disappear from his urine and it should eventually become a light yellow."

Corpsgirl, Johnnie's foster mom, reports that Johnnie is really coming into his own personality!
Johnnie is sure making progress but we still need to get that heartworm treatment so his heart can keep up with his new future! If you can donate just 5,000krw it will go along way, I promise ;) We are half way to our goal, please help us reach our goal~
