Description:

UPDATE JUNE 14:
Today's the big day! Kongju is being adopted. I picked her up last night from her foster mom, and she and Choco have been playing. Choco's usually timid around other dogs, but he's finally warmed up, and is playing with her. Both tails have been wagging all morning.

UPDATE MAY 4:
KJ's foster mom went on a trip for the long weekend, so she's back with us. She was groomed yesterday, and is going on a picnic with us tomorrow. Her adoptive family is coming to meet her, and they are looking forward to taking her home in a month and a half. She's come a long way.

UPDATE APRIL 28:
Kongju is set to get groomed on Saturday. Bye bye furry muppet, hello shaved monkey. Photos to come.

UPDATE MARCH 29:
Kongju has a potential adopter lined up for July. Fingers crossed!

UPDATE MARCH 9:
Kongju is doing great with her foster mom. She's playing, licking, and opening up. She's also looking a lot better, now that her fur is growing out.

UPDATE Feb 15:
Well, it turns out she must have been called Kongju (princess) in her previous life, because I called her that jokingly and she got really enthusiastic, and now will only respond to that. I must have said Molly 10 times, but I said Kongju once, and she turned to me. Kongju it is! I went to the vet and had a new tag made.

I'm pet sitting her for the weekend while her foster mom is on a trip, and she and my dog are having issues. He doesn't know how to act around other dogs, and she keeps stealing his food and growling when he tries to get to it, so she'd be better in a home without another dog.

UPDATE Feb 11:
She's finally starting to feel secure. She was allowed to sleep on the bed with her foster mom last night (the first night she was in the crate) and gave her mom her first thank you lick. You can see from this video that she's starting to come out of her shell. She'll be totally up to date this weekend. Her eye is totally better now, and the wound is nearly done healing.

UPDATE Feb 9:
My friend is going to foster Molly for a while, but we're still looking for a forever home for her. It turns out that she is in fact house broken (she pooped and peed on our walk today) and also quite smart. I got her a carrier at the vet, and tapped the inside saying "집" and she went in and sat down. She's now been vaccinated for Rabies and Kennel Cough, and had a dose of Advantix for heartworm prevention. She'll get another set of vaccinations in a week, then she'll be up to date. She's at my apartment waiting for my friend to pick her up. My dog doesn't like her, but my dog doesn't like any other dogs. They're tolerating each other, though. She tried, and wagged her tail at him, but he's just a jerk.

Here's a video of Molly enjoying my bed before her foster mom came to pick her up.

UPDATE Feb 8:
After grooming, the vet noticed a scar on her lower abdomen, so the vet is 95% sure that she's been spayed. She's been around dogs and a cat at the vet, so she seems to be good with other animals. She seemed sad when we dropped her back off at the vet after having her out for a walk. She'd make a great pet.

ORIGINAL POST:
I found this Shih Tzu yesterday tied up in a phone booth near where I live. I went back a few hours later, and she was still there, and, as it was freezing out, I took her to the vet.

She had a check up. Here are her stats:
no fleas
no mange
no visible skin problems
heartworm negative
extremely gentle (She let me pick her up and sat on my lap getting stroked for hours. She even let a toddler pet her.)
1-2 years old
she has a small case of conjunctivitis that I'd paid the vet to treat (he said it's an easy fix)
she's a drooler
she walks well on a leash (puts my dog to shame, really)
she's house broken (she doesn't use pee pads, but only toilets outside on walks)

I'm paying for her vaccinations. Please contact me if you want a sweet little girl.

***HER ADOPTION FEE WILL BE DONATED TO BAPS***

Adoption Fee: ₩150,000

Molly's been groomed. Check out that face!

That shot of her tied up to the phone booth brings tears to my eyes. The poor thing. My heart really breaks for her.

I've shared her story on my personal Facebook and I'd love to do what I can to help you find a home.

No animal deserves to be discarded like that. The poor thing.

Michele, if you need a longer term foster... I can. I will email you. You may need to check your "junk" mail. [email protected]

Thanks, everyone. Molly has settled in to her foster home and seems to be comfortable. I miss her, but she's visiting next weekend to visit my dog. I'm trying to get them to be friends, in case we end up having to take her back for any reason.

Hey! I just read about the issues with the food... I wouldn't say she's not good in a house with other dogs, she just needs some training and socialization. Chances are she was an only dog before and hasn't learned how to behave around other dogs. A symptom of many dogs abandoned by Koreans.

My third dog was a resource guarder, like Kongju seems to be, and we worked through it. Timed feedings. Taking away triggers (bones, toys) and introducing them in a safe, controlled way. There is lots of information out there on how to deal with this.

I just don't want her to miss a potential home based on some correctable issues. =) Definitely great to let potential adopters know that something is up, but it's something that can be overcome if the person is willing to invest a little time into making this sweetheart a part of their home. =)

Yup. We're trying.

Hello, I am very interested in adopting Kongju. I sent an email to the contact info email provided. Is that the best way to make contact? I would love to set up a time soon to come and meet Kongju =)

Hi, Kristina. At the moment, we have an adopter lined up for July, but if that falls through, would you still be interested? She's a gorgeous little girl, and fully housebroken. She's currently being fostered by my friend.

That's great you've found someone. Could you change Kongju's adoption status to "Adoption Pending"? Thanks!
