________________________________________________

She is a real Peach! Beautiful young dog. Friendly and playful. It takes her a little bit of time to warm up because she can't see well, but once a little time has passed, she's fine. She's okay with both people and other dogs and is not aggressive in general.

Health status: poor Peach's eye condition has left her with very poor vision in both eyes (her eyes seem quite small as well). Poor Peach has tested positive for heartworms. However, the vet says that it is in the very early stages.
Peach has limited time same as many other death row dogs.
Please consider fostering or adopting this puppy.

Adoption fee: will go to cover cost of spaying.

If you would like to meet Peach, contact Mrs. Kang (010 7507 4504, [email protected]) please.
If you are interested in adopting or fostering Peach, please fill out the pet adoption application and e-mail it to us: http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application. Thank you!
We are looking for a loving and caring family for this very special Peach ~

Adoption Fee: ₩120,000

I don't like it here!

I wasn't able to get to this earlier, but now I have some time to email some Shar pei rescue groups in North America. I would really help if I could get some more info, such as how much time Peach has (i'm concerned since this listing says she's on death row)...also, I couldn't find her profile on the Korean site...

Great news! Not one, but THREE of the of the rescue groups I've contacted are interested in helping Peach! I'm emailing Mrs. Kang and Sofia with more info~~

Hi- I just posted on the website about couriering Peach back to Seattle. In a bit of a pickle tho because I need to find a pet sitter for Tux (aka Richie) in order to take Peach. If I can't find a pet sitter I'll need to take my dog back to seattle too. He gets a little nervous and I don't want to put him in cargo but a puppy can't be in cargo either + two big suitcases... like I said its a pickle but I really want to help.

Susan's picture

Where are you located? And when would you need a sitter?

nosdoowbk's picture

junggye-dong in Nowon-gu, Its a long term sitter thats the problem Oct 7th to late February. I'm hoping to come back with EPIK but if I don't get in I will come back in late December/early January with an academy. I'm willing to go anywhere in Korea if it means my little guy has a loving home to vacation at while I'm away. I'm talking to my hagwon at the moment- trying to get them to buy the ticket early so I can contact the airlines and see if I could carry on Peach and maybe put Tux in cargo... I just don't want to leave him in Korea for so long I'm really going to miss him. I don't know what will stress him out more- a new temporary home or two long distance flights... I can't figure it out. Anyways! Lets SAVE PEACH!

lotuslee's picture

I just sent a friend request on Facebook so we can message each other to hammer out details :)

nosdoowbk's picture

Nevermind I think it's all sorted- Peach can go via check baggage and Tux will go in cabin with me. :-)

Hi,
I don't know if you need anything anymore, but I would fly into Southern CA at some point in the next few months. Probably pretty far for you, but if it comes to it and you need some help, I can help!

lotuslee's picture

Thank you so much for your offer! I will certainly keep you in mind as a "backup"!

UPDATE: I finally had a chance to speak with Mrs. Kang for some specific info on Peach:

Temperament:
Overall: friendly and playful. She described Peach as "mischeivous." However, poor Peach's eye condition has left her with very poor vision in both eyes (her eyes seem quite small as well). The caretakers says she'll put her paws up on the fence and bark at people or dogs that may pass. It takes her a little bit of time to warm up because she can't see well, but once a little time has passed, she's fine. She's okay with both people and other dogs and is not aggressive in general. In fact, she says that Peach has been on the receiving end of some agression by other shelter dogs, and that she has been bitten a few times. The caretaker thinks she's kind of "weak" cuz of her poor eyesight. However, Peach *loves* food, and has shown some food guarding behavior.

Health wise:
Poor Peach has tested positive for heartworms. However, the vet says that it is in the very early stages. I am coordinating an overseas rescue for her, and she should be okay to travel at this stage.

clare_bell's picture

Amazing, I am keeping all fingers and toes crossed that she can get outta there!!! Thanks for all your hard work!!

Susan's picture

Hello Everyone~
Is Peach still on the fast track (so to speak) to the Shar Pei rescue organization or does she need a foster? Also, how is her health, after testing postive for heartworms?
Thanks,
Susan

lotuslee's picture

She was on the "fast track" to go overseas, but I just found out today that she won't be able to go. The volunteer who offered to take her is flying out on Saturday, and United Airlines won't transport animals on the weekend. With respect to heartworms, her caretaker has been giving her monthly Heartguard treatment to kill off larvae, but so far no treatment yet for the adult heartworms. We thought she would be traveling to the US in a couple of weeks, so she was going to start her treatment in the US. Were you interested in fostering her?

lotuslee's picture

The woman who originally offered to courier Peach may be able to take her in December~~ In fact, when she returns from her fall trip to the US, she may even foster Peach until the December departure~~ I will post updates on her situation.

Of course, if you are interested in adopting Peach, PLEASE INQUIRE! Peach still does not have an adoptive family, as her trip to the US would only be to a sharpei rescue group~~~

Hey i've been speaking with the awesome person who is taking care of them!!! she is doing well! here is a picture of her :D

Myles' mom's picture

Hi! What's Peach's situation now? Just wondering if she's found a home or someone to take her to the US? I can't take her myself, just wondering how she's doing!

Megan2024's picture

I am not sure I am going to be going up there in a few weeks hopefully so I will try and see her if I can!

lotuslee's picture

We actually got some great news, recently--- A sponsor is willing to fund Peach's trip to the overseas rescue group. We are working on the details now, and hopefully this will work out. We will be sure to keep you posted on this process--I'm hoping we can get her overseas before the winter pet flight embargo for airlines.

Where is Peaches now?
