HISTORY
Mona was rescued about a year and a half ago in Yeongcheon by my friend. She was found on the side of the road. When she was taken in, it was apparent that something was wrong with her right paw. The vet said it was an infection.

My friend suddenly had to leave Korea and nobody in Yeongcheon would take her, so I brought her home. She spent the first few days hiding under my bed, and, when I finally could take a look, I could see that her club paw had a much bigger problem; she was gnawing on it.

I took her to the vet immediately. Her paw had a really bad infection and the vet wasn't sure she would make it. We learned that she can't feel her right arm from the shoulder down, but that she would need to see the vet everyday for two weeks so it could heal properly. I walked her to the vet everyday for the next two weeks so the vet could clean the could wound. After a few more weeks of antibiotics and cleaning and bandaging, she was back to normal.

Since then, she has learned to use her club paw, though she walks on the wrist joint. The vet has determined, using X-rays and by feeling her paw, that all of the bones and tissue on the paw are completely ok even though she walks on it.

WHY SHE NEEDS A HOME
It was my goal to get her healthy and adoptable. She is litter trained (though I use a big plastic box instead of a normal litter box because she has quite a throwing arm) and neutered. She has been up to date on all necessary vaccines so far, and I'll be visiting the vet pre-adoption to see if she needs any more. I'd love to take her home with me, but I honestly believe that she has had enough relocation trauma in her life already. She is young (about 1.5-2 years). Finding a new home in Korea will be a much easier transition than traveling across the world. If she is afraid of the sound of plastic bags, I can't imagine what an airplane would do to her.

WHAT IS SHE LIKE?
She is both the textbook definition of a scaredy cat and a curious cat. Any person entering the apartment will cause her to run under the bed to hide, but she is out in the open and begging to be pet minutes later. She hasn't had the chance to interact with other animals. My best guess is she would probably get used to them just as she has quickly gotten used to every person (even the one she hissed at initially). She is isn't mean or malicious, and she is a little playful. Keeping her claws trimmed has prevented any painful accidents.

She is looking for a permanent and loving adoptive home.
