Description:

Poor miss Minnie was surrendered to our clinic after being attacked by a large dog. She was pinned down and the side of her left eye was scratched. Minnie had surgery to suture her eye shut to allow her body to heal, and was given antibiotics and anti-imflammatories to help her system fight off any infections. Her external and internal sutures were removed on Monday 17 June 2013, and it looks like Minnie still has some sight in her left eye. We won't be too sure if Minnie's eye will fully recover or not for the next couple of weeks.

Minnie is doing quite well considering all she has been through. She has been shuffled around a lot and is very confused by why she is here. She walks around meowing as if she is calling out for someone or something, but she will eventually curl up in her bed and sleep. She loves to be pet and will rub her face and body against you in order to get the maximum amount of contact. She isn't a lap cat right now, but I believe within a week or so she is going to blossom into a wonderful cat.

Minnie is spayed and is current on all of her vaccines until December. She also already has an ISO compliant microchip that is able to be used worldwide!

Minnie is opening up so much! She loves to be pet and rub against your legs for attention. She is also a purring machine! We were worried that she was regressing when we got another kitten in the clinic because she would sit on top of the kennels and hiss at everyone. She is very vocal and lets you know when she's upset. However, she is all talk and no action. She hasn't once bit or scratched anyone, even when we had to give her medicine and eye drops. Once Minnie realized that the new kitten is not a threat to her, she relaxed and continued to open up again.

Minnie also LOVES food! She is a little picky and only likes a certain type of dry food, but she loves all kinds of wet food. She quickly wakes up and rubs against my legs when she hears me open a can of wet food or opens her bag of dry food.

Minnie's eye is recovering really well. I am still not sure if her eye is ever going to be completely normal, but she can see pretty well out of it. It is no longer bothering her and it continues to look better daily. Minnie also has two different colored eyes. Her good eye is a green color, but the eye that had been scratched is a beautiful light blue. The more her eye heals, the better you can see the blue coloring of her eye.

Please consider fostering Minnie. I know that Minnie would quickly turn into a cuddly cat if she just had the right environment. She is so sweet and is making great progress from the first day we got her.

Minnie's eye had been recovering fairly well, but then all of a sudden she got an infection. Within 24-48 hours, her eye ruptured and her third eyelid completely covered her eye ball. So, on Tuesday 30 July 2013, Minnie had her eye ball removed. We were all worried about how Minnie would react with her eye gone, but she has been doing really well. Her spirits are high and her recovery is going well. She has even opened up to the puppy that has been at our clinic. They have even been caught sleeping on the same bed together.

I have added that Minnie does well with dogs, now. I believe, if she were adopted in a home with a dog(s), she would do best in an environment where the dog(s) have been introduced to cats before and are less inclined to chase her. She really does get along well with other animals, but with anything, she will need time to adjust to them. Her adjustment times are getting shorter and shorter though. When we first got Minnie, it took her a couple weeks to open up to Reemy, the little kitten that is up for adoption at our clinic. However, Minnie (for the most part) opened up to the puppy within a matter of days.

If you are looking for a low maintenance cat, then Minnie is your gal!

Oh no! I'm surprised to hear about her eye. My dog has only one eye and it doesn't seem to interfere with anything (though she does occasionally misjudge certain distances). She is perfectly normal and content and I'm sure after an initial adjustment, Minnie will be the same. :)

We were surprised about her eye as well :/ It happened really suddenly, but she has been perfectly fine so far. She actually has opened up more since having her eye removed. She is able to jump and climb normally, and we are pretty confident that she isn't going to have any psychological issues from her missing eye :)
