Pika (formerly Mongshill) is one of the many dogs at the Ugidongmul shelter. However, this lucky girl caught the eye of one of the volunteers and she has since been adopted and is now in her new home!

My son was teaching English in Jeju and adopted this beautiful little Chihuahua on this profile Pikachu, from Ugidongmul Shelter. He wanted to bring her back home to England, so sold his laptop and all his belongings to buy her a seat next to him on the flight home, rather than have her travel in a box in the hold for 14 hours. She now lives with us in our home, she is part of our family and is very happy and secure. We would love to know any information about her life in and especially before being in the Ugidongmui shelter. We believe she was called Mongshill in the shelter, we now call her Pikachu or Pika for short. Where did she come from, what was her life like?

WooRi Koh from the shelter has kindly given us lots of info about Pika's life, this has been achieved due to the kind efforts of Katharine R, here is info from WooRi Koh: : "She was found on 4th of May in 2009 near the area WOORI supermarket in Shinjeju. She got skin disease on her ears and her tail was left 3cm and cut. She got no difficulty to see but her eyes were half white and looked like cataract.
When she was found she caught a cold and so was a bit depressed.
She is smart and quick-witted. She has a great appetite as well.
She was neutered in 2010. It was the surgery to remove only ovary but infection was found in her womb. It was necessary to open her belly. She was in pain next day and did let no one touch her.
I am looking forward to hearing some news about mongsil. I would appreciate if you inform me sometimes how she is doing. Thanks for your concern and affection."

Pika did not die frightened and alone one cold dark night, because of the kindness of the staff at the Ugidongmul Shelter. We should do all we can to support the staff of Ugidongmul Shelter, as they are very special people.

Thanks for sharing the info you found out. It's wonderful to know that all that is in the distant past and she has a great life now. It would be great to see recent pics of Pika in her new home, if you have the chance. Seeing the success stories is really inspiring :)
