Jiminy has landed safely in the USA! Once again, thank you to EVERYONE who helped Jiminy in his long journey. We absolutely could not have done this without you. Extra-special thanks to Sue in the US who opened her home and heart to our little guy. Have a wonderful life! <3

It's Jiminy's big day tomorrow! The little guy will be flying to the USA with his wonderful courier Scott. Thank you Scott and Kristine for helping Jiminy to get where he needs to be. Thank you also to Steph, Jiminy's foster mom, for having him with you this past month. Enjoy your last night together and know that you have saved his life!

Jiminy is loving life in his foster home. His foster mom says he LOVES grass and guess what, he especially loves doing his business on grass & is careful not to get any on himself.

He lifts his back legs up off the ground with his front legs! I thought he was doing gymnastics at first, hahahaha. Oh and he slept in his crate last night all on his own.

More good news for Jiminy? Some wonderful people have stepped forward as his courier to his new life in the US! Amazing! Thank you Kristine and Scott! Thanks also to Spencer, who has donated some money towards his airfare. I just love how people work together for a good cause. You're all awesome.

Jiminy received his Kennel Cough & Corona vaccinations on 14 April 2014.

7 April 2014
Jiminy spent his first night in the lap of luxury last night...i.e. his new foster home! He is doing fantastically well and even went on a little adventure today to retrieve one of his foster mom's socks from across the room while she was at work. Thank you again to Marla and Neil for sponsoring his vet check. This would not have been possible without you. Thanks also to Steph for opening your home to this little man.

I have some mind-blowing news about Jiminy. Thanks to his sponsors, he was able to go to my vet for "the works" and I have some crazy stuff to report!

1. Jiminy IS NOT PARALYSED!! YAY! The poor little guy... both hind legs have severe grade 4 luxating patella and THIS is why he cannot walk and why his muscle has deteriorated so badly. X-rays are coming soon - his kneecaps are miles away from where they should be. OUCH! :(( Unfortunately, there is about a 40% success rate for surgery on his legs, because they are so bad. The vet says that because of his young age, he feels it should be given a try though.
2. The vet says Jiminy is not older than 2 years.
3. He does NOT have scabies! He has yeast infections: Malassezia in his ears & Dermatophytosis on his body. He is being treated for both of these with oral medication and medicated baths.
4. He was tested for heartworm and canine influenza - both were NEGATIVE.
5. His antibodies are pretty good: Hepatitis @ 4, Parvo @ 5.5, Distemper @ 5.
6. He received DHPPL & Rabies vaccinations on the 31st March 2014.
7. He has a good appetite and can wee and pooh on his own (because he is not paralysed).

Jiminy will go into foster care in the next week and I cannot wait to see the progress he makes. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this adorable little man!

Huge thanks to Marla L. & Neil W. for putting together the money to get this little guy a full health check! We took Jiminy to my vet on Saturday and are awaiting the FULL results - I will update as soon as I hear. From the vet he will go to his foster home and then we will look for a courier to the wonderful people waiting for him in the USA. Thank you so much everyone!

Jiminy has totally stolen my heart. He is so loving and just wants to curl up with you. That's all he wants. After all, the little darling can't walk. :( He has a really weird twitch in his hind quarters and I am desperate to get him into a stable foster or adoptive home where he can receive the vetting and TLC he requires. His scabies is clearing up and his fur is growing back slowly but nicely. He is probably not very contagious anymore (if at all).

Huge thanks to Marla L. for offering to sponsor W200,000 towards a health check for him. Is there anyone else who would like to donate towards getting this wee man a FULL check? This would surely lighten the load for a foster parent and encourage someone to step forward. Please help us to help Jiminy! He is the sweetest little darling ever!

Our own little Jiminy Cricket!

This poor little guy has been through so much!!!
He has been rescued a few times now and keeps getting returned to the shelter. His back little legs don't work at all and are stuck in an X shape, he also clearly has a skin condition (maybe mange).

We definitely need to get this little guy in for some more testing to figure out exactly what is wrong with him.

Is he able to go to the bathroom on his own?

clare_bell's picture

Yes, but whether it's just kind of "leaking out" or being naturally pushed out is yet TBD.

Hi Clare, how much for a full check? Do we know if surgery would allow him to maybe walk? Or is he a good candidate for some wheels?

clare_bell's picture

Hi Robyn

A check with Mr Park's vet costs W130,000 and this includes:
- heartworm test
- parvo & corona tests
- bloodwork
- first round of DHPPL & Rabies vaccines

HOWEVER, I think Jiminy will need a much more in-depth check with x-rays and possibly other blood tests. Apparently a surgery will not rectify the situation, but I'd like a second opinion. I think, with a proper home where he can get some rehab, exercises etc. to build up some muscle, treatment to (hopefully) stop that twitching etc. he would do well on some wheels. :)

Clare, my husband and I would like to cover some of those costs.... i will email you :) Thanks!!

Jiminy's regular visitor Suyoun says: "Jiminy likes laying on your knee. He likes toys and gets along with friendly cats. He loves small balls and plays with them. He feels uncomfortable to use the legs but he can move himself."

marlajoy's picture

Oh, wow! Great to hear he's not paralyzed but so sad about his poor knees - it must be causing him so much discomfort! I had no idea it could get so bad! Clare, thank you SO SO SO much for knowing he needed a FULL check and taking him to your vet! :)

Sooo so happy for Jiminy!!
