Chestnut (밤톨이)

UPDATE: 2013-10-19 Chestnut has had a few interests this past few days. I received an inquiry through email, and Smallville has had a few people interested in adopting Chestnut. Everyone seemed to be very interested, but no one as sincere as Sue's co-worker's family. In fact, they drove up from Choong-ju, which is over two hours south of Seoul. Much to everyone's surprise, Chestnut was adopted today! He will be living with a Korean family as the Grandmother's sidekick. Congratulations Chestnut!

2013-10-14 Meet Chestnut (밤톨이)! His story is that he was a stray that a lady rescued off the streets around the neighborhood of Smallville Animal Hospital/Cafe/Care Center in Seoul, Dongjak-gu, Heuksuk-dong. The lady apparently could not keep him, so she left him with Smallville; which is located about a 10-15 minute walk up the hill from Heuksuk station. The Vets and Technicians at Smallville checked for a microchip, but Chestnut did not have one. They have also not tested for which vaccinations he may have had or may need. From their initial examination, Chestnut appears to be completely healthy judging by his teeth being in good condition and his coat being very shiny, soft, and well kept.

My wife and I met him a couple of weeks ago at Smallville when we took our pups (Guinness and Max) in for a bath. No one seems to have claimed him, yet. The Vets and Techs at Smallville have called around and asked their network, but still have not found Chestnut's family. He is very healthy and very clean, so he must have been well taken care of. Smallville asked us to post this on ARK to see if we can find him a furever home so here it goes!

Chestnut is very tiny, as most Chihuahuas are; weighing in at about 2.4 kg. And from the looks of his teeth, he is about 4 years old. His personality is very loving and he likes attention. He's all about being in your arms and being carried around. He is so comfortable being held, he usually falls asleep while you hold him. He would probably do well in a bag, too. LOL! If he is not in your arms, he usually follows you around wherever you go; so you have to be careful not to step on the little guy. And because he is so small, he does not eat a lot. He also seems to have some fears with fast moving and noisy kids and loud sticks. He favors females, but I'm a guy a he comes up to me for attention. So, as long as you build some trust, he is okay with you. Like I mentioned, he fell asleep in my arm while I was hold him. He also folds back his ears to appear cuter. It's really funny (reference photos).

NOTE: Smallville hosts adoption events with KARA once a month at their location in Dongjak-gu, Heuksuk-dong. There are a few other dogs and cats that stay at Smallville. So, he is not lonely, and the Vets and Techs there are great about taking care of strays. They even adopted a former service golden retriever named, "Jang-goon" (aka General).
