Update (August 21): Hunter is now in Chicago with his forever mommy and furry sister!!! Could not be happier! Thanks to EVERYONE involved in making this happen. He is one lucky pup!!!

Update (July 22): Though it's not for another month, I am TOO excited to not post it. But Hunter will go to Chicago to his forever home in August! We are getting everything ready for his to make the journey to his new life! :) :) :) :)

Update (July 6): I specifically went this past Saturday to "assess" Hunter and I was SO happily surprised by what a wonderful boy he is. He is very calm, as you can see from the videos: when someone approaches his kennel, he does not even make a sound, nor jump up. When other dogs in the outdoor area are going crazy, he simply watches. He is still a little shy to the human touch but he does warm up and he is hesitant towards the harness but after we got the other dog distracted from trying to hug me to death, we were able to get Hunter's attention and he sat like a nice boy and let me put on his harness without a fuss. This was only his 2nd time going on a walk, and yet he already knew what to do. He is so super smart. I was able to pet him all over, minus his paws. However, even though he did not like it, he did not turn aggressive. And when he was relaxed afterwards, I was able to hold his paws and he didn't even care.

The asphalt was way too hot to walk them, so all we could do was let him play around a bit in the grassy area behind the shelter where he began to display some playfulness, bouncing around, sniffing everything. It was adorable. He had good handler recall though, and was not a puller. We tested him with Nala (female dog he has never interacted with) and there was an initial sniff/meet-and-greet and then they were totally copacetic; no aggression, no attempts to hump or dominate.

We then took a rest under the shaded area, and I had him out for about an hour. He began to get very friendly with volunteers and loved being pat by then and was no longer nervous at all. He has such a calm and pleasant personality; we walked him past the front area of small dogs and they always go absolutely bonkers. He ignored them first time around, then the 2nd time he looked at them but did not react; no pulling towards them, no barking/growling/showing aggression whatsoever.

There was another small dog out who Hunter had also never met before; we introduced them slowly and the small dog began pouncing on Hunter's head. No reaction. For the next hour, the little dog kept antagonizing Hunter and snapping/growling/barking/pawing at him and Hunter just ignored it all. He happily lay at my feet and let me pet him all over.

Update (May 26): I took Hunter out for a walk today; it was his first time since being at the shelter. I was really surprised at how much he trusted me; he was a bit hesitant when he saw the harness. But he did not try to run away or turn aggressive; he just lay down and let me put it on. This dog is so super sweet; and suprisingly he does really well with the other dog in his kennel who is normally not too friendly with other dogs his size. We walked them together and Hunter just wanted to stop and smell everything. He was pretty unsure at first and it was slow-going but he quickly settled into a nice gait. This is a very sweet and handsome Jindo who would do great in a family environment :)

Hunter is a relatively new addition to the shelter; he came in mid-Feburary. I've only met him twice but he has totally stolen my heart. He is such a sweet and gentle dog; slightly timid and a bit skittish but otherwise, so calm and lovely. He is super handsome too as you can see and loves to be around humans. He takes treats very nicely and doesn't mind when I touch or hold his paws. I will try to walk him this coming weekend and see how he does with other dogs :) I don't know much about his past, or his personality but I can already tell he is going to make a wonderful addition to someone special's life.
