Description:

Dong-hae, a most beautiful white Jindo, was found in a rather neglected farmyard, certainly bound for someone's soupbowl. She was tethered to the end of a chain less than a single meter long, this was the radius of her entire world, which included rotting kitchen scraps given for 'food'. I bought this dog from the 'owner' and took her home where she would have much more room, until an adoptive family could be found.

She stayed with us for a month where she experienced running for the first time ever. Throughout the winter her tracks in the snow marked her journeys further and further from the house, but she would come running back when called. Always. This is an incredibly attractive and intelligent dog. She chased after sledding kids just to lick their faces after they would tumble off the sled. Just to make sure they were okay. She would spend the nights quietly in the entry-way, ready for breakfast, sun and play in the morning. Forget cleaning after her, we don't even know where she would poop! (it's spring and the snow has melted, still don't know) But while she was chained up at her former residence, it could be seen that she did her business at the very end of her chain's length, the maximum distance from her food and home.

What brought Donghae to the shelter was a rather sad event. Donghae had effectively made the entire outdoors around our house 'hers', while we made sure to keep our other 3 small dogs inside. (separate but equal?) On one occasion however, one of the little ones was intercepted on its way to the truck, on a trip to the vet for shots. Let's just say... well... Dong-hae made the drive to the vet with the little dog much more necessary. Needless to say after nearly losing one that had been with us for much longer, keeping Dong-hae at our house was no longer an option.

** Dong-hae has shown signs of territoriality that make her likely unfit to live with other dogs or pets, especially smaller animals.

So now she waits at the dog shelter in Pocheon, waiting for a family to give her love that she so deserves. Her eyes show her intelligence and sadness for never having a family all to herself. Visit Dong-hae yourself to see how special she really is.

Dong-hae has been adopted! She will now live with a family who lives in Gyeongi-do. Thanks so much to the CARE shelter at Pocheon for taking such good care of Dong-hae these past months.
