Beautiful, loving Lilly.

Update: The week before Lilly was due to have her full health check, she passed away. I am so sorry Lilly. You were a beautiful, loving girl who stole my heart and I wish you had lived out your days with the family you so deserved. Love you special girl.

Update: 19 July 2014
Lilly had an extreme makeover today! Pics coming soon. She also received Frontline. She looks like a different dog!

Update: 5 July 2014
Lilly is one of my favourite dogs at Asan. She has such character and is so in love with humans it is heartbreaking to leave her at the end of the day. Lilly was given heartworm prevention today and ate it well. Lilly is a hot mess right now, as her winter coat has blown but is still stuck to her by dirt and grime. She looks kind of like a sheep...! We gave her a brushing and a ton came off, but she needs a good bath and some more brushing. Any volunteers? Contact me if you would like to join this weekend's trip to the shelter!

Lilly found this toy lying on the ground beside my car and gently picked it up...I waited to see her reaction when she realised it squeaked...most precious moment ever! I don't know if Lilly has ever had a toy in her life! She certainly made up for lost time though, she wouldn't let it go. She even took it with her on her walk! And when she had to go back to her sad spot on the end of her chain, she took it with her.

As we left the shelter that day all we could hear was the occasional squeak coming from inside...heart broken that I didn't offer her a toy ages ago. :( This girl...she breaks my heart.

Update: 8 April 2014
I fall in love with this girl more and more every time I see her. Initially, she comes across as a bit jumpy and hyper, but that's because she is living on the end of a short chain!! She has been at Asan for longer than I care to remember. She is highly affectionate and CRAVES human company. She loves to go on runs, loves treats and she loves us, the kind humans who give her pats on the head. She would make a fantastic pet to an energetic person who likes jogging, walking etc. Can you imagine what she will look like after a bath, a good brushing, a proper diet and that tight, yucky collar off her neck? I see it in my dreams and I'm sure she does too. :(( Please give Lilly a chance!!

Update: 29 March 2014
Lilly was lucky enough to go on a walk today! She was SO happy to stretch her legs and she had a bit of a run with Neil, good sport that he is. :) Being tied on a chain is driving this girl bonkers. She desperately needs (1) a loving home, (2) a pet-free loving home, (3) a pet-free loving home with someone who has a bit of energy & can take Lily for nice long walks and/or runs. Please note: Lilly LOVES humans! She craves human affection. Please give her some.

Lilly received heartworm prevention today. She was extremely happy to see us, as always. I adore Lilly! <3

Update: March 2014
Finally, some recent photos of Lilly! (Please see comments section below.) Lilly is so playful & energetic. She would do so well in a home of her own! She is looking a little dirty & she has spent another full year at the shelter. I would love to see Lilly be adopted this year!

"While children and other animals are a definite no, she would make an amazing one-person companion!"

Lilly just wants some LOVE!! Look at her!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lilly is still waiting for a patient, forever home to rescue her from a life spent in a cage. While she doesn't get along with other animals, she's very sweet and affectionate with people. She's also currently up to date on heartworm preventative and her paw is healing.

Update: February 2013
Despite the spring weather finally here, Lilly has been having a rough time of things. Being in a small cage with little exercise has led her to stress and pacing. She also badly hurt her front paw and is now missing 2 claws. She has since been moved to a larger cage, but still is slowly deteriorating in the shelter environment. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS GIRL!!! While children and other animals are a definite no, she would make an amazing one-person companion!

Update: January 2013

Lilly was lucky enough to have a very kind volunteer take her on a long walk last weekend. She was SO happy to get out of her small pen and just enjoy being a dog. The volunteer said she pulled a bit on the lead, but was very well-behaved for the most part. While we made sure she was nowhere near other animals, she was friendly with all of the volunteers. She's a gorgeous girl who is wasting her life in a small cage instead of a real home.

Update: December 2012

Lilly was finally able to get out of her kennel for a nice long walk with a great volunteer. This is a beautiful dog. Although she cannot be around other animals, she is really wonderful around people. Jindos are extremely loyal and this girl would be great in the right home. Please give this girl a chance!

Lilly is a special girl in need of an equally special home. She was originally brought to the shelter after being rescued by a volunteer from a chain. Later she was adopted by a family who worked for the US embassy. She started out as a cute puppy (as most dogs do), but became aggressive toward other dogs and cats as she got older. When she attacked a dog on embassy property, she was forced to return to the shelter.

It's very hard to get Lilly out of her pen with so many other dogs and cats around, but I've climbed in with her to spend a little time with this pink-nosed cutie. Despite the cramped conditions and my invasion of her space, she was extremely friendly and had a surprisingly soft mouth as she gobbled up as many eggs as I could give her. She even sat down (what a good girl!) hoping for another egg as a reward.

Although she cannot go to a home with other animals or children, she is looking for an experienced owner who can give her the love and attention she needs. It's not right for a such a beautiful, energetic animal to be stuck in a cage week after week. Please consider coming by the shelter to spend a little time with this girl.

How is she doing? I really feel for her and hope she finds a home soon! Those poor Jindo dogs are not at all suited to shelter life!
