Description:

***Yay! Catsby was officially adopted!!! Have a great life, lucky kitty!***

Meet Catsby, the handsome, 3-4 year old, orange cat! Catsby came to us in a stray trap, however I could tell there was something special about him when I saw him. He seemed confused and meowed, but never hissed at the strange people carrying his cage.

Catsby is a hefty boy, weighing a whopping 13lbs (5.9kg). We believe that he was being fed by people on the US Army base he was found on. Catsby was absolutely filthy! He smelled as though he had been living on the streets for years, and all of his battle wounds confirmed that as well. Despite his appearance, Catsby is one of the friendliest (and most grateful) cats I have ever met. He was patient enough for me to trim is bloody nails. He had broken quite a few and had actually ripped one of his back nails completely out :/. He let me clean out out his ears that were full of dirt and debris. He even allowed me to give him a much needed bath (he will need at least another!). He didn't love everything I was doing to him, but he never tried to bite or scratch me (even when he pawed at me he kept is nails retracted!).

Due to Catsby's demeanor, I have decided that he is a dog trapped in a cat's body. He loves to have his tummy rubbed. He will come up to you, rub his body against you, flop on the ground on his back, and paw at you to give him lots of tummy rubs. Catsby lets me pet and touch him everywhere. He has never let out a hiss, and if he is done with me touching his paws, he gently licks my hand to let go. Currently, his favorite place to sleep is in a small dog bed. First, he curls up, but as he gets more and more comfortable, he begins to stretch and spill out from all sides of the bed.

Since Catsby was a street cat, he is not neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, or microchipped. We will be working to get that remedied, but we have to have a home for Catsby before we can begin (thanks to ridiculous policies with funding). I believe that Catsby would do well with children and other cats, however I have not seen him interact with either. I am just basing this off of his lazy and receptive behavior and experience. I am not sure how he would do with dogs, but there is a possibility that he could do well with them too. We have only had him for about 24 hours at this point, so I will up date more soon.

Oh, Catsby! You are just ridiculous :) Catsby LOVES attention and pouts when no one gives him love. Catsby would be a great cat for a family or even for a first time cat owner! He is laid back but does like attention from time to time. Living in a cage is just not enough for this big boy. He deserves more!

Catsby has been great about keeping his claws retracted, even when he gets mad at me. He will use his paws to push my hand (this usually happens when I clean his ears or trim his claws), but he always remembers to keep those claws retracted. I have caught him trying to scratch the furniture twice, but we have been training him to not do it at all. He would LOVE to have a huge cat tower with scratching post to call his own.
