UPDATE: May 28

Great news! Charlie has found a fantastic foster home! A wonderful experienced foster has stepped in at the eleventh hour before Charlie was due to be released from the vets and I couldn't be happier. Charlie's recovering well from his ailments but needs to take some follow up meds for the next week and will no doubt need a few follow up visits and checks to ensure he's recovering well. Already he is looking so much brighter and perkier than I've ever seen him so I hold great hopes for Charlie. Charlie is doing well according to his foster but not surprisingly is a little shy in his new environment as it might possibly be his first home ever, so there are plenty of smells, spaces and people he needs to settle in with. Though so far he's gone from hiding under the bed to hiding behind potplants ^^ Thankfully, he has a wonderful understanding and patient foster to let him be and take care of him as he warms up to his new temporary home.

Before I pass Charlie's profile over to his foster, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Megan for stepping in to be Charlie's foster as well as those who so kindly and generously donated some pennies towards Charlie's vet bill. Because of all of you, Charlie has the best fighting second chance in life and this lovely kitty deserves it! Thank you!!

UPDATE: May 17

I visited Charlie at the vets today and I'm happy to report that he's doing very well! He was looking so much more bright eyed and energetic and he is slowly recovering from his pneumonia. I have high hopes that Charlie will recover in no time! However, the vet advised that he should stay at the vets for an extra five days to prolong the treatment and better his chances. That means Charlie will be ready to be released from the vets on Saturday May 25. We're still looking for a stable foster for Charlie, so if you can open your home to Charlie to give him a stable secure environment for him to fully recover following his treatment, please contact me! At this point in time, it's not sure what kind of medical care Charlie may need after he leaves the vet, the vet will advise this info when he's due to leave, but most likely it might be a short course of antibiotics. PLEASE CONSIDER OFFERING THIS LOVELY, QUIET, FRIENDLY TOM A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME HE SURELY DESERVES!

UPDATE: May 16

I've had some lovely people make some donations towards Charlie's vet fees ~ THANK YOU!!! The remaining amount I'd like to raise is 250,000 won. Please consider FOSTERING this sweet boy to help him recover well. If you can't foster, please DONATE a small amount towards his vet bills. With everyone's help we can give this lovely tom a good fighting chance that he really deserves!

UPDATE: May 11

Charlie wasn't looking too good today so I decided to sponsor a health check for him. The vet and xrays confirmed Charlie has pneumonia as a result of a serious case of feline calicivirus :( He also has a case of earmites. Both are common ailments found in shelter environments. The vet also confirmed Charlie (formerly Maggie) is male, not female as I was previously informed. Charlie's symptoms include sneezing, sniffling, block sinuses, low energy and slightly withdrawn but is still quite alert and purrs loudly when petted. Charlie will stay at the vets for 10 days to receive treatment everyday and will need to take medicine for one month to treat his pneumonia. While he received and continues to receive treatment, he may possibly become a carrier of the virus for the rest of his life, though carriers have also known to stop shedding the virus a year after recovery. Thus it will be important for Charlie to go into a home with no other cats or cats who have been vaccinated against the virus.

Charlie will be ready to go into a foster home on Tuesday 21st May. PLEASE, IF YOU CAN, HELP BE CHARLIE'S FOSTER AND HELP HIM RECOVER IN YOUR HOME WITH ALL THE TLC HE CAN GET! No doubt in due time Charlie will be alright! If you can be Charlie's foster, please send me an ARK adoption/foster form to Daisy at [email protected] ASAP!

If you can't foster, please donate towards Charlie's treatment expenses to the following account. No amount is too small. The expected amount the treatment and time for Charlie at the vets will cost is between 300-400,000 won. Please email me at the above address if you make a donation so I can thank you!

Charlie is a new addition to the Asan kitty clan, having been rescued from death row at Asan city pound by Mr Park. Charlie is a sweet, friendly affectionate mixed tabby cat who loves to be brushed and cuddled. Currently he's being treated for some mild respiratory virus symptoms (nasal discharge and a mild cough) but hopefully he will recover soon. It would be great if someone could give him a helping hand and foster him while he recovers.

Charlie was neutered while at the city pound under the TNR program they have there so the tip of one of his ears is missing. This is a common procedure with Korean TNR programs.

I'm looking forward to spending more time with Charlie but there is no doubt he would really make a wonderful feline companion.

If you are interested in FOSTERING or ADOPTING Charlie, please send Daisy a completed application form (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/adoption-application) to [email protected]

Adoption Fee: ₩50,000

Lol, definitely!

She spends most time alone at the shelter.
I didn't have enough information about her this time. Now I read all information and I'm going to have enough time with her.
(She seemed to be scared of people.)

dbis's picture

She is becoming a little more shy, but I know she loves cuddles and chin scratches!

I met Charlie at the vet on Sunday and stayed together about 4 hours.
He made "grrrr" sounds all the time and ate well.
Charile finished caring at the vet and moved to a foster house(Megan Jarrell) yesterday.
He was still sneezing but it will be better soon. Thank you so much Megan.
Charlie needs forever home. :)
