Description:

More than a week and a half ago my husband found this kitten in our neighborhood. He's about 4 months old and no one seems to know where he came from. He's incredibly friendly and is always running up to everyone to say "hello" (even if it means he has to run through traffic to get to them!) so all of the neighbors have met him but none know him. We've also checked lost and found sites, posted on local facebook groups and our landlord has asked around the neighborhood as well. So far, no owner has been found.

He loves to be petted, held, or just to sit beside you and purr. He seems to have spent some time on the street though as about 3/4 of his tail has been broken off and has already healed. We can't bring him in ourselves because I am nearly 8 months pregnant and we are already owned by two cats. So in the meantime my husband built a shelter for him next to our apartment and we've been feeding him and keeping an eye out for him.

Friday night though he didn't come home. When my husband went out Saturday morning he found him in his "home" but he wouldn't come out (he usually comes out when you call him). His nose was bleeding and fluid running out of his eyes. My husband took him to the vet and the vet said that the injuries are because someone kicked him in the face (not from a car, other animal or illness). I guess he went to say "hello" to someone and they thought it was a good idea to kick him right in the face. He is having some difficulty breathing right now because of the blood in his nose but the vet expects that he will recover ok. He's on antibiotics for the next couple of days.

The vet said he was healthy but we are not sure if he has been fixed (I suspect not since he seems a bit young). Vaccine status is also currently unknown. He's either really smart or partially litter trained. We set up a litter box for him. Showed it to him it once and he used it shortly after (but then didn't cover it up and accidentally stepped in his own pee :P Oh well, he's half way there!).

We're really lucky that we have an awesome landlord. He's also really upset about what has happened to the cat (but can't take him in either) and he helped my husband to move the shelter to the back of the apartment away from people and to make it waterproof. He is doing much better this morning. He's taken two doses of his antibiotics no problem and has his energy back after resting all day. The bleeding has stopped and he's having less problems breathing (only sneezing when he gets too excited and starts breathing fast). Unfortunately this also means that we're going to have more difficulty keeping him out of trouble! Even after all that has happened to him he still adores people and just wants to be near to them. He purrs so much when he sees someone that his whole back end shakes and he can barely stand. He just wants someone to pet him, rub his chin and keep him close.

He really needs a foster (or forever!) home. He's not very streetwise and his friendliness has already gotten him hurt. We're in Gwangju City, Jeollanamdo.

He's adopted!

It's been a tough few days for this little guy and so even though I talked up how super friendly he is, he was really shy. :P Isn't that always the way with animals and kids?! But he's off to start his new life with his new best friend for ever. Here's hoping that you both have years of snuggles and chin rubs together!
