Adoption Day at Dr. Pet Animal Hospital, Gangnam, Seoul

Update 2010: Adoption visits are now by appointment only.

Original post from 2009:

Every Saturday, we hold "Adoption Day" at Dr. Pet Animal Hospital, located between Gangnam-gu chung Station and Seolleung Station. Anyone wanting to adopt a dog (or cat) can come on in and meet the animals we have available for adoption. If you plan on coming, please call and/or email Ryan in advance so I can prepare for you at 010-9006-8655, goesslry@gmail.com.

Hours are tentatively 11-5, but we can work around your schedule a little bit. You can also come in on other days, should Saturday not work for you.

Procedure:
  • Email or call to let Ryan know your intent on adopting or fostering a dog or cat in advance at 010-9006-8655, goesslry@gmail.com
  • Fill out the adoption application and email to Ryan prior to Saturday. You can find it in the "how to adopt" section, under point 3. Alternatively, email me, and I will send one to you.
  • Come on Saturday.
  • Directions: Go to Gangnam-gu-cheong Station and walk toward Seolleung Station, or go to Seolleung Station, and walk toward Gangnam-gu-cheong Station. You will run into Dr. Pet. If you are confused, or have questions, please call Ryan at 010-9006-8655. The address is 35-3 Samsung-Dong, Kangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea 서울시 강남구 삼성동, 35-3 (닥터펫)
  • Meet the animal you are interested in. Take him/her for a walk, play with them, give them treats!
  • If everything works out, and everyone is satisfied/happy, pay the adoption fee, and take the new family member home with you!
  • Finally, update us on how your new family member is adjusting in the "happy tales" section of this site.

Only a couple small guidelines:

1. Any animal adopted must be "forever", meaning you intend on providing a forever home for her, and would only re-home in a dire circumstance.

2. Must be able to provide ample time for socializing with the animal (no 12 hours a day alone)

3. All dogs and cats, if not already, must be spayed or neutered. This is to not only help control the animal population, but it will also help with an future behavioral issues that may arise. Dr. Pet does spay/neuter at a considerable discount for any shelter animal and rescued animal.

4. Enjoy your new happy life with your new family member.

If you have any questions, or intend to come on any Saturday, or other day, please contact Ryan at 010-9006-8655, or goesslry@gmail.com

I took some pictures at Dr. Pet yesterday and it took me most of the day to upload them here. Ryan or whoever is starting adoption threads for these animals, you're welcome to use whichever ones you like (that is if someone else doesn't post better ones). Sorry, I don't know all the dogs' names yet or which section of the gallery would be most appropriate. Also, I hope someone will let me know if I've mislabelled any of these photos.

I was glad to have a chance to meet all these sweet animals, and very glad to hear that Dr. Choi is helping this way. Every one of these dogs is super friendly and would make a great companion.

I didn't know Rusty's name until yesterday, but I think I met him in April:

Kathy hosted a very successful adoption and fostering party at Dr. Pet yesterday. What a great idea!
