Default Flash Gordon - 3 legged doggie [Adopted]

Flash Gordon is a little 3 legged dog from the Asan shelter who is currently being fostered in Seoul.

Here is what his foster carers Nana and Justin have to say about him:

“Just letting you know how our puppy is settling in here. First of all, we felt a bit guilty calling him Flash, since he doesn't get around too quickly. Then, Justin remembered a comic called Flash Gordon, and we decided Flash was just his first name. So we call him Gordie and it suits him just fine. Especially because "gordo" is Spanish for "fat," and he's definitely a bit bigger than he ought to be. We're going to work on that!.

He is as sweet as you said he'd be and loves to be petted. He was very good natured with some neighborhood children this afternoon. After his bath and a brushing, he has the most beautiful coat I've ever laid fingers in. From the fur length, texture, color, and that lush neck ruff, we're taking a guess that he's a collie - probably Shetland Sheepdog, because of his size. And he does pee and poop outside!

He's housebroken, we've gotten a better sense of his exercise needs, and he's getting more comfortable at home: approaching us on his own more often, exploring more of the apartment, etc. He's a little manic when we get back at the end of the day, but 9 hours alone is a lot to ask of any dog. On a side note, he's also become quite a hit with the neighborhood kids--they're fascinated by the three-legged dog. Now they gawk at the dog instead of at us!

Gordon's very sweet, supremely mellow when he has company, content to lie around and be petted pretty much all day. He gets a little skittish when left alone for too long, so he'd be best with someone who could check in on him on a lunch break. He loves to walk, but he tires out quickly, so an ideal home would be able to give him 4-5 short walks in a day. Also, we've just begun working on some simple commands--sit, stay, roll over--and he's already showing some progress.”

Was he at Osan when they did the demonstration there? Is it the same 3-legged boyo?

Yes, he's the same dog.

More on Gordie: He is perfectly housebroken, even when we have to leave him for a full 9.5 hours, and a total floor lump. He enjoys being brushed and petted. His only bad habit is a fondness for chewing paper left at his height - tissues, paper towels, receipts, book covers, etc. Fortunately, he's kind of low to the ground, so it's not hard to put stuff out of reach! He is very patient with the neighborhood kids.

Oh, and his FUR! He is SO handsome and a pleasure to touch. If you're a collie fan who doesn't have a yard, this is one you can finally have. He gets tired out walking quickly and is very mild-mannered indoors. A lap of our parking lot, and he's done for a few hours.

Please consider this guy! He's a complete sweetheart and would be a great addition to any home.

We have a likely adopter planning to meet Gordie this weekend! He met Gordie at the Osan fair and is fairly certain that Gordie is the dog for him.

Fingers crossed!

Flash is still available for adoption - unfortunately his previous adoption didn't work out due to issues with the landlord and dogs (not Flash's fault or his adopter)

I picked him up from Cheonan last Saturday afternoon and drove him to his new foster home in Bundang. He sat happily in the back seat all the way, except for one point when he started to whine because he wanted to be let out to have a pee by the side of the road (he's a good house-trained and car-trained dog

He is such a lovely, easy-going, low-maintenance dog - he will make someone very happy very soon I'm sure

I have been fostering Gordie for just over a week now and have been enjoying his company. He is a great dog who is full of love and affection. He's always in good spirits and loves to be put on his leash to go for a walk. He gets so excited when I come home from a long day at work and is instantly wanting a belly rub! I have had no problems with Gordie as far as behaviour and/or attitude is concerned. He has never made a mess in the apartment and he never barks. He gets on well with other dogs and doesn't mind when curious children/adults stop to pet him. Sometimes he will find paper and will chew it (I just noticed the above post about this bad habit). But hey, he can't be perfect!! haha.. It's easy to see that this little guy just desires to have a home where he can stay and get comfortable and settled.

Since having Gordie, I have taken him to the groomers and have had him washed and cut. They shaved his fur off, so he looks like a completely different dog than when we met. He still looks cuter than ever and the haircut was definitely a slimming look for him. :P

I have been trying to encourage Gordie to take longer walks. I encourage him to go a little bit farther each time. I think we're up to a 10 minute walk with fewer stops now. He is getting stronger and becoming more fit. He really enjoys the walks and I love taking him outside and enjoying the sun with him also.

I want nothing more than for Gordie to find a permanent home. He really deserves it. This dog is most certainly a keeper!

I'm pretty sure I remember Gordie from the shelter, and he's super-friendly. If he's the same dog I remember, I'm surprised he doesn't take longer walks ... he always seemed so playful and full of energy. I hope he gets a good home soon.

Flash / Gordie has kindly been adopted by Luke & Erika (who also adopted Dottie the Spaniel from the Asan shelter earlier this year - see
