As a nation, claim to love cats and dogs. Millions of households have pets, and billions of dollars are spent yearly on pet supplies and food. But as a nation, we should take a hard, sobering look at a different annual statistic: the millions of dogs and cats given up to shelters or left to die on the streets. And the numbers tell only half the story.

Every cat or dog who dies as a result of pet overpopulation—whether humanely in a shelter or by injury, disease, or neglect—is an animal who, more often than not, would have made a wonderful companion, if given the chance. Tremendous as the problem of pet overpopulation is, it can be solved if each of us takes just one small step, starting with not allowing our animals to breed. Here's information about this crisis and why spaying and neutering is the first step to a solution.

This is so true! i once fostered a dog who was about to be euthanized becuase of its behavioral issues of being too aggresive with vets and EVERYONE! after hard consideration we decided to foster her in our APARTMENT! it was hard but deff worth it.. at first we couldnt touch or even go into the room she was in(we gave her a whole room for herself!). after about 3 days she began to calm slowly i was able to touch her back and take her out for walks and after about a week even give her a bath.. she was a shar-pei, we got her adopted to someone in the country side who owned a factory and just had so much room for a big big dog! she was the sweetest girl! all they need is a chance, even the meanest of dogs can be sweet! even some of the dogs at the daejeon shelter that are bittey and ms. jung cant even touch them, i bet they can be the sweetes of dogs.. all they want is a chance....:o

I agree with them to stop the breeding! People just keep on breeding without
any knowlegde of breeding and animals are ending up sick or selling them for
''cheap'' to fake animal lovers.
Most of those people who has a dog/cat from that condition don't value the pets life and they end up getting killed in shelters.
Don't take an animal if you can't take care of it for ever and STOP this suffering PLEASE!

Pets are for ever and not only to keep you company during your time of lonelyness.
People who do that are as cruel to me.
