We adopted Hope in December 2010. She's always had a little anxiety, especially with Thunder and loud noises. Given her background and what she's been through we thought why not try ordering a Thundershirt.
So far it's a success! So we thought we would share her story. It might not work for every dog but for Hope it worked straight away :)

Oh we obviously ordered a pink one with her full name embroidered on it too since she's our baby :)

Where did you order it from? How does it work?
Is it just a security blanket or is there something to lower the static electricity? I read something about a special coat for that.
Lassie is also terrified of thunder and the 4th of July is always a nightmare for a couple weeks with all the fire crackers.
Panda is having a hard time with separation anxiety. Do you think a coat might make him feel more secure? He's a basket case right now and I want him to calm down so he will be adoptable.
I've been looking into getting one of these for our Boston terrier who is terrified of thunder (just spent another sleepless night trying to distract and calm her). I'd also be interested in where you ordered it from.
Thanks for sharing.

Avid,
Go to www.thundershirt.com If you decide to get one you can enter CL564 and get free shipping. Not sure what happens with international shipping. We ordered 3 of them for our 3 crazy nervous, shaky babies. One pukes on car trips, one shakes constantly when outside the house, and the other is terrified of thunderstorms and people. Hoping and praying they work!

Well, I have noticed that when I pick up Panda and wrap my arms around him snug he calms down. But he gets so anxious that it's had sometimes to pick him up. This thing really sounds like it works! I'm going to try just a small coat on Panda. But it won't be as snug as that one.
He also seems to be itchy all the time. Does it help on itchy dogs? :)

Ha ha ha yeah 2010, not 2011.... I've been in Korea too long! 221 days and America here I come. LOL
The shirt just wraps around her tightly. It has enough velcro to share with your friends, but at least it wont come off in a hurry.
We used it last night. Hope's condition is usually so bad that she pants non stop, can't sit sill, and her heart races, really not a good thing. Last night we had hours of thunder and lightning. It still wasn't a fully relaxed dog but she slept through some of it and her panting was very much reduced. Also when the thunder stopped she was more relaxed where as she would normally take hours to settle down.
I don't think it should be seen as a shirt that has some miracle ingredient that will solve all problems for all dogs but so far we have been happy. For us it was worth the gamble. Plus it looks cool and it's pink.
