hey everyone,
I want to take my dog back to the U.S. Everything I have read talks about taking them to Canada. Has anyone taken a pet to the U.S.? How much did it cost? Does it depend entirely on the airline? Can anyone recommend a good airline?
Thanks

well.. if your dogs reallly small or even light weighted you can take them on as carryon baggage and i believe for no cost... and there are some orginizations that you can use to send pets whereever and also i saw someone take a shih-tzu with them as carryon and it was a fatty but she still seemd to manage to take her on...:D

It is pretty much the same for the U.S. I believe. Rabies certificate and health check at the airport. I don't know about Airlines though because I'm Canadian but the process on this end is REALLY easy I just sent my dog home last Saturday.
it costs to take on as carry on. depends on the airline. book in advance, as only a few pets are allowed on each flight. Cost is similar to putting underneath for a small dog. Cost is based on size of crate, not size of dog. all you need is a current rabies shot, with the certification from the vet. most vets know how to do this for traveling. No quarantine or anything. very simple for US.

It's about $80 to take a dog as a carry-on but the dog must be less than 4kg (with the carrier). For under the plane, it also depends on total weight... but it'll be around $250 (For US airlines)

Hi Gina,
Can you give me the exact cost of sending a dog to the US? My friend may want my sheltie. I have the carrier and it's the one 21.5 in high. She weighs about 10 kg now. I'm in Daejeon and want to know the cost door to door or would I have to carry her to Incheon? Is it possible on the limousine bus service and would she have to go under the bus in cargo? Is that safe?
I also want the price for sending Maggie too. She's the same weight but shorter.
Thanks for the info.
Sandy

Those luggage bays are not ventilated or meant to transport live animals, I would NEVER put a dog down there, not only will it get banged around and be terrified, but it could very easily get carbon monoxide poisoning. Also they are either freezing cool, or boiling hot. NO way in hell that it safe for a dog. If your dog is big take the KTX to Seoul and find a taxi, or just take a taxi all the way.
