My friend adopted a Daejeon dog "Bart" and he has shown signs of aggression towards her now that he is coming out of his shell. He hasn't bitten her yet but he snaps at her when she puts him down after carrying him. This is obviously something that needs to be dealt with before he starts biting. Any ideas? I have a few but I have never really had to deal with a biter before. Please help!

What I noticed during all this rescue time in Korea is that most people
tent to pamper their dog as they feel pitty for the dog which is natural
but not the best thing to do.
The dog get overconfident and become dominant.

When you take in a dog, best is to teach the dog rules first rather than pamper
the dog and let the dog do whatever he/she wants like sleeping in your bed
or being in your lap at all times the dog wants.

A very young pup who still needs the mother is a different case but any dog
older than 2months old need rules first and understand that you are the master/
the Alva which is really important.

Tell your friend not to pick up/carry the dog again until he deserves it,don't give any treats
until he deserves it.
Good luck!

I agree with you, he is very pampered and she is very soft hearted. I told her to check his bad behaviour right off. Ollie and Minnie both growled at Bibi when they joinned us but that only last for a few days because we made it clear it wasn't ok. All it took was a firm 'No'.

I told her she needs to step up and be the alpha dog, not to carry him and to encourage him to do the things he is afraid of. He wouldn't walk for days, still hides constantly, he won't stay in her bed etc. He is having more trouble than the other dogs I brought back that day (Angel/ Minnie) I think it is because she isn't giving him rules and structure.

He growls at Ollie everytime my little guy goes to say 'hello' poor little Ollie, now he knows how bibi felt;)

It took me a solid four months before Louise was super comfortable with me. Now she won't leave me alone. haha
