I was going to add this to my thread on toxic foods but can't find it. My chubby yorkie, Umbee has gastroenteritis with bloody diahrea like strawberry jam. The vet says if it progresses to Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, HGE, it could be deadly. She got fluids and I'm giving her meds twice a day. There is no known cause.
But I remembered a couple of them chewing the leaves on a plant in the front yard this week. (It's spring!) So I checked and found out the plant, Pyracantha or Firethorn has cyanide in the berries and it will cause (mild) gastritis.) The vet said to continue the treatment and just make sure they don't get it again.
So many toxic plants around!:( This is the best list I've found.
