One adoption and one foster yesterday. Unfortunately we also lost a lovely little dog who had come to us last week with young pups. We had temporarily named her Mama Dog.
We took her to the vet yesterday afternoon as Mrs Jung had told us she had been coughing for the past day. Once we got her to the vet they gave her a blood test for heartworm (which was positive) and took an x-ray. Unfortunately she became stressed at the vet and went into shock, she lost consciousness and never recovered. The x-ray showed her lungs had pretty much stopped functioning, perhaps related to the heartworm and the fact that she had obviously had been kept pregnant for most of her life.
She was a beautiful natured dog (I'm sure you can see from her photos). I'm incredibly sad as I'm sure we would have been able to find her a home. She leaves behind two 3 week old pups. Sleep well Mama.
Last weekend was also the last shelter visit for our wonderful volunteer Sarah Barnes who is returning to Canada on Thursday – I want to thank Sarah so much for the enormous amount of time she devoted to the shelter and to abandoned dogs and cats in Daejeon generally, she fostered countless dogs and cats and came to pretty much every Saturday shelter trip in recent memory. We will miss her very much and we hope she enjoys being home again :)
