Hi all,

I know this might be a long shot, but I was wondering if there was anyone living in the Kangwon-do region who might want to help out on this case, or if anyone has any ideas on how to check on/help this dog...

Here's the story:

Back in January 2007 I visited Kangwon-do with a Korean friend and he toured us around various museums and such, including the Muksan Art Museum. (http://ywtour.com/eng/CMSView.php?pid=696) It's in a very pretty area in the mountains, but I think fairly difficult to get to without a car and a good map.

Outside the art museum there was a chained up spaniel:

More pictures of her are still on the old site. (http://www.lonelylifetime.com/photos/animals-in-korea/kangwondo-dogs/?page=1)

I contacted KAPS about her then and the director told me she would contact the owner, but I never heard any follow up on the situation and don't actually think there was much KAPS could do from Daegu when this dog was in Kangwon.

All this to say that recently someone outside Korea wrote to me to ask for an update. When I looked again at the pictures I am still just as haunted by her face as I was then, and really regret that there was nothing I could do at the time. Now, of course, I have no way to check on her...

So, like I said, this is probably a long shot... but if there is anyone maybe planning to vacation in Kangwon do (near Yeongweol), or living close enough to plan a day trip to some pretty museums and galleries, maybe there is a chance that a trip to the Muksan art museum could be on the agenda and we might get an update on this girl's status?

Thanks

She is precious. That is pretty far from where I am and I have no idea when I'd make it there.

oh my god,poor poor thing,really heartbreaking :(
How long was this ago Karen, did somebody see the dog recently?
What if somebody see this post, goes there and the dog won't be there?

Hi pukka,

Well, the art museum has paintings to see anyway... :) No, just kidding. I've emailed the phone number to Tim in case he knows a Korean person who can call there and ask about the dog. The person who originally emailed me about wanting to help her (frankly I'd given up hope since it's been so long), this person has emailed IAKA to see if they have a contact person in that area who can help (by phoning or visiting, but phoning first would be smarter).

Thanks Ryan. Alibuch is going to ask her coworker to call tomorrow so hopefully that will get us enough info (if the numbers I found are correct... I just googled "Muksan Art Museum" and found a couple different ones).

We've had quite the week at work this week.
Maybe Ryan can still do this. Sorry Karen. :(

That's OK. I'll forward the numbers I sent you to Ryan and see if his fiancee can still do it :)

I know a lot of people are busy and a holiday just went by... Is there anyone else with Korean speaking ability who could give the art gallery a shout? The Canadian person who is interested in helping wrote to IAKA over 2 weeks ago and they haven't responded yet, either. I really hope someone can help find some info on this poor one. Sorry to beg :(

Just calling to find out if the dog is still there would be a great help! I don't know how much chance there is after so long. I'll PM you the numbers I found on Google. Thanks so much!

Karen. I called the other day, and the person I spoke with had no recollection of the dog. I will try to call again another time and hopefully get another person. :)

Ryan, thanks for calling!

If you get a better answer on a second call I'd be overjoyed. Since it was over a year ago that I saw her there, I was kind of expecting she'd be gone, though. :( I wish I had a photo that showed more of the environment so where she was standing would be recognizable even to a worker who hadn't seen the dog. I was going to suggest emailing the photo, but that pile of rocks could be anywhere... :(

Anyway, thanks so much for calling.

Thanks to everyone who called the Muksan gallery.

The last information that I received is that the dog was given away to a family who wanted to provide her with a better life.

Oh good,I hope this is true and that the dog is much happier now
because he/she looks so sad on the picture.
