Dogs of Jeju
Looking for a second chance...

There is a private animal shelter on Jeju that is owned by a high school teacher. She spends a lot of her time and income on the animals at the shelter, and with the help of donations and some volunteers, tries to allow ugidongmul (abandoned animals) another chance at a happy life.

There are well over a hundred animals at the shelter, including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, two raccoons (not adoptable) and a dove. The animals come in all shapes, sizes, and colours, and they are all amazing. Most have been abandoned through no fault of their own. Some have spent years at the shelter waiting for a real home. If you are interested in any of the following animals, please give me a shout on here, or at jejudogwalk@gmail.com
Shelter website (all in Korean) can be found here (http://cafe.daum.net/jeju-ugidongmul).

Adoption fee: 50,000 won to the Ugidongmul Shelter.

If you are interested in any of the animals pictures here, please post here, or contact me at jejudogwalk@gmail.com.

Good luck to all our animal friends out there.

I can't see all of Bijarim/Nutmeg's body but from his face it looks like he's a Cairn terrier, the "Toto" dog.

This little girl is so sweet. She is, I think, less than 3 years old and is very laid back and relaxed. Really likes to get out of the cage and out for a walk, but *does not* go crazy with the new freedom. She is small in size, perhaps around 5 kg? Her fur is different colours, mostly black/grey, with some brown and white highlights. A very pretty sweetheart.

On Saturday a Korean man adopted Chaduri (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/showpost.php?p=30409&postcount=12) and took him to his new home.
Congrats to Chaduri the Chow-Chow, I hope his new home is a great one!

Charlie

Charlie is a bonnie dog and so so soft. He is about 2 years old, and is a brown... spaniel of some sort, I think. He knows his name and will come when called. He has been neutered, and is very friendly. Right now his is the biggest dog in the free-roaming dog room, so sometimes he seems a bit dominant, but he is not aggressive and is quite people friendly. He is a little plump, and could do with more exercise.

He would love to meet you!

More good news! Mari (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/showpost.php?p=30122&postcount=5)has found a family here on Jeju to adopt her. They have a big house and a yard, and lots of love for her. I didn't get a chance to meet them, but I wish them great success together. I think she'll be very happy to have her own place and people.

Unless we get *another* bucketful of snow making roads impassable this weekend, I will be visiting the shelter on Saturday, January 8th. However, the weekend after this one I will be away from Jeju for a few weeks. If anyone is interested in any of the above dogs and would like more information about them, please let me know before this weekend so I can try and find out for you.

Cheers!
