I took a visiting friend to the Daejeon City Shelter today, my first visit since the early summer.

I was impressed with their recent renovations, and a number of workers there, ripping up newspaper to line the new, spacious green kennels.

Most of the small dogs were outside in fenced kennel areas, enjoying the nice day. The larger dogs (mostly Jindos) have a kennel area now, although they don't all get along.

The cats have a great new area with places to climb and perch.

All animals seem to have ID tags and are colour-coded with scarves. Fences are new or repaired.

I have posted photos here (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=213013&id=501939772&l=00a7e809a8), since the ARC site is freezing up when I try to upload.

I encourage anyone who's interested to take some free time for a trip out there to walk the dogs, and let the workers know how much it has improved. Feel free to contact me if you need directions; I might even come along!

Thanks for sharing the photos. If you were trying to add a bunch to the ARK Gallery at the same time, it does take a while for the server to resize them. Let me know the issue exactly and I can try to help.

Do you know how a person could send a donation to this shelter? Someone from Germany wants to donate but I don't have the bank account information. Any suggestions?

If people want to donate (and they do take donations as they are trying to improve - Katie makes it sound like it is indeed much better already), my friend goes there a lot and her Korean boyfriend is on their forum too. She could take bank transfers there directly.

Wow, the pictures are really amazing...I'm glad to see the changes. Really!
So sad to see so many dogs though...

Thanks Annie! If your friend or her boyfriend could confirm they could do that (or maybe they know the shelter's own bank account info?), just send me the contact info and I will put the German donor in touch with them ASAP!
