Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone can answer a few questions about pet travel. I am interested in going from Seoul to Toronto with a medium sized dog. I have contacted one transporting company and then have given me a quote for 1,070,000 won....
When I looked on the airline websites it mentions that it would cost $ 105 per direction and then whatever it would cost at the quarantine.
The issue is that I would not be flying the dog........so I am not sure what the best option is but paying a million won seems expensive to me.
Any advice??

The $105 price sounds like either carry-on or checked baggage cost which is only available if someone is flying with the dog. Regular airline cargo is generally $250 and up (depending on the airline) with some airlines requiring you to be a known shipper to use their service. Generally with the transport companies, they take care of all the paperwork (health certificates and airline paperwork), transportation to the airport, and the actual reservations.

Delta Airlines has a great transportation program for animals. It is not too bad of a price and the pet does not have to be accompanied.

Does anyone know if the airlines have restrictions on flying? I heard there was something about the summer and winter, and I am wondering if the restriction is placed with dates or temperature?

Also I have been reading about Dr. Pet on this forum, has anyone experienced his office when shipping your pet and is it around 1 million as well?
