I need to get my dogs to stop barking, I have two large golden retriever/boarder collies at home and they do make some noise. Normally I would not think it a big deal because they do not go outside at night and they are only out when we are home, if they bark they come in. But we have a crazy neighbour and I fear that he will act out against my dogs, he blames them for any barking he hears and has even lied to the police about them. That's right he sent the cops because Oscar barked for 10 mins and 1:30 in the afternoon! Our immediate neighbour's have a gate in their back yard connecting a public park to their house/our street, so at any given time their is anywhere from 3 to 20 kids playing (unsupervised!) and dashing through their yard as a short cut. In case you were wondering they DO annoy my dogs on purpose! Brats! My dad is making sure to keep them inside when the kids come home from school etc. but in the summer this won't be possible. I have tired the water bottle trick and it works with some success but evidently it is not enough. I have a bad feeling that this nut job will keep harassing us all summer or worse! Are there pain free anti-bark collars? Does anyone have any advice? This summer Oscar might be moving here and thus to an apartment so eliminating the barking would be helpful for apartment life, too. Any advice is welcome!
