I went to the KAPS Boeun shelter on last Saturday and spent around 2 hrs with the dogs. Sunnan got around 10 more dogs to that shelter on Saturday but unfortunately I could not meet her as she had left before I could reach the shelter. I took a bus from Seoul to Boeun town and that costed 11,900Won. It took me 3 hrs to reach the town. There are buses to Boeun town from "Dongseoul" and "Nambu Bus Terminal". Upon reaching Boeun town I took a taxi to the KAPS shelter. It is a good idea to print the KAPS shelter address and carry with you. It took around 10mins and costed 7,500 Won. The distance from the bus stop to the shelter is around 5kms. The shelter is not as far away from the city as we had felt it was.
At the shelter there were so many dogs! Two Mals, couple of jindos, a GSD and a Labrador Retriever. There were some small dogs too, but I could not see them from the pen I could only hear them. These dogs are quite lucky to have enough space to run around. In other shelters they are usually confined to a cage.
I do not know if there are any buses from Daejeon to Boeun. BTW Daejeon is around 45kms from Boeun.

Names of some of the dogs:
Pyrenean Mountain Dog - "Bo-eun"
GSD - "Marie"
Dominant Alaskan Mal - "Sink"

I do not remember the names of the other dogs.

Thanks for the info, cyrax. The pictures are great, too!! It's so nice to hear that the animals have space to exercise. Do you know how often they are allowed to run around in the yard?

Coincidentally, my husband and I took a day trip recently that took us right through the city of Boeun (didn't realize we were headed in that direction until we started seeing signs). It took us just over an hour, driving. I will check on the bus situation as well, I'm not sure which station it departs from but I know there is a bus from Daejeon. There isn't any train, however.

Most of the dogs are always in the pen. The caged rooms have their doors open all the time. There were some exceptions though.
Four Jindos/Yellow dogs, Retriever. were caged and not allowed to come into the pen. The cages are really large btw. More like rooms where they can walk around. The Jindos/Yellow dogs were barking quite a lot and one of them showed a lot of teeth. I think that they are a bad case of aggression. The Retriever would bark a lot but did not seem aggressive/dominant. There was one GSD that was put in the cage, but that was because most of the other dogs would nip at her. My opinion was that the GSD is the victim and "Sink", the Mal, should be the one in the cage as he was quite dog aggressive. I am not sure if the handler understood what I told him. *shrugs*. The rest of the pack roams around quite a lot though.

BTW if anyone plans on going to the Bo-eun shelter it would be a good idea to post it on this forum. Hopefully others will join you.
