After many failed attempts at getting ahold of someone at the Air Canada Cargo office here in Korea, I've pretty much decided to go with Petairline. Their prices are a bit more expensive than I'd like, but such is life!

Gina from their office has been great, providing lots of info. It seems as though the more dogs you send, the better the price. She quoted me about 600,000 for 1 dog, and just over 900,000 for 2.

I'm wondering if anyone else is flying home around that time? Or even have a dog that you need to get home? More dogs together mean a better price for us! I'm flying to YYZ (Toronto), but would be willing to check with her what the prices are to Vancouver and sort it our from there...

Think about it! Tell you friends with dogs...

Maybe you can search out breed specific rescues in Canada, and contact them about taking in a specific dog. Similar to what we did with the Afhgan Hound (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3498&highlight=Afghan+Hound). Then that pup can fly to the rescue with you.

Does PetAirline take people on board as well? If so, what do they charge? Do the dogs get to go in cabin regardless of size? And do you know how much more they might discount the prices if we could get a whole bunch of animals shipped?

They don't allow people. The dogs are sent on cargo planes, as they are temperature controlled. If you're interested, please let me know how many dogs and what size they are, and I'll get in touch with my contact at petairline to see what kind of quote she can come up with!

Right now, probably just one 9kg dog, but if there's going to be a huge discount for more animals, I will definitely start liaising with rescues in the Eastern US and Canada (you are going to Toronto yes?) that might be interested in some of the small dogs here - so many of them would get adopted relatively easily in North America.
As a comparison, do you know roughly how much it costs if they go as checked baggage and whether the heat embargo applies if the flight is non-stop Seoul-somewhere?
