This wonderful girl (Maggie) contacted because she wanted to get involved. Well, she has tons of ideas for fundraisers as she has previous experience. I've always been waiting for an opportunity like that so I hope it works out.

First, this message is to "feel" the people and see who would be interested in helping out. We were thinking about a kind of show with musicians and bands who would volunteer (we already have a few names, but would probably need more).

Also, people could donate money directly or objects they want to give so that we could put up a raffle or an auction. We would definitely welcome any businesses who would be willing to help! Maggie had people donating hammocks, books, and even a porn collection, so don't feel ashamed about anything!

In other words, anyone who has contacts for a venue/ music/ sponsership/ donations, please let us know! Think about your vet who could give some animal products....Of course, we would confirm what's the event before we actually ask for sponsors as it would look kind of strange to have no date or location...

Finally, anyone who is in Seoul and would like to directly work with Maggie to put something up, please contact me and I'll give you her email address.

We need to act quickly as the deadline for the shelter is coming soon, and we would like to raise as much as possible for that. Of course, any other money would be used for rescued / stray / abandoned pets.

Thanks!
Annie

What kind of help does Maggie need? Is there any way this could also serve as a sort of "adoption fair" where the dogs could get some exposure to the public?

red dog, I think an "adoption fair" type of thing is a really wonderful idea!

I don't know how hard it would be to organize, but if all the foster parents in one city could arrange a meet & greet type of thing (maybe easier once the weather gets nicer), with either a banner and/or "I'm adoptable" tshirts for the dogs, it would be really good exposure for the adoptables. It may lead to more people wanting to foster, too.

Of course there are many things to think about first, but anyway, the adoption fair idea should really be developed... (easy for me to say across the Pacific, right?).

Those all sound like great ideas, Karen. And you're right ... it's probably better to wait until the weather gets warmer before we think about having an adoption fair. I assume dogs aren't welcome at the Rocky Mountain Tavern?

I don't know. If the music is too loud it may not be good for their ears anyway :(

Yeah, it doesn't seem like a place for a dog anyway. Maybe I'll bring photos of her so everyone can see how cute she is?

Hmmm. Maybe you could make a little business card for her, a photo with a little factsheet on the back.

Tim said he would print small posters for some dogs, so you could do the same (I think he said A4 for the size) for your foster dog.

The adoption fair sounds like a great idea to me. I suggest that it might also be a good idea to find foster carers at the fair. I'm sure that some people, who think right now, they'd like to have a dog, but they expect to be traveling in several months time so they feel it's a bad idea, might make good temporary carers. It might be a good opportunity to get more dogs out of the shelter and living with someone, even though it wouldn't be a permanent situation.
