Hi guys!
I don't know for other cities, but here in Daejeon we don't have that many vegetarian places. However, there is this nice little vegetarian buffet that makes us more than happy every time we go.

Anyway, the main point of this post is to let you know that they also sell interesting products:
dehydrated soy proteins, canned fake meat, and veggie-pate!!! After more than a year here, I couldn't be happier to find all this. I guess it's a little expensive, but to me, totally worth it and not really expensive if I compare with Canada.

So, let me know if you want me to get you some or if you would like to have more info about the location, prices, etc.

N.B.: Lotus soup is an interesting experience that feels more than healthy! ;)

When I moved to Daejeon a year ago there was a fantastic veggie restaurant
near Home Plus (station) Unfortunately they closed because people thought
15.000won for a buffet was too expensive. For lunch it was only about 10.000won
and many many choices,really amazing!
For what you could eat it was really inexpensive and they had fake meat etc but
I always like the veggies the best.
When you left the restaurant they had a little store on the hallway where you
could buy the things you mentioned.Too bad its gone and I hope for you
that the one you know will stay :D

There is also a little vegetarian buffet across the street from Lotte Department store (Daejeon), in the basement. It's very, very yummy!

More veggie food including companies you can order online from are gathered on this website: http://www.vegetariankorea.org/

(Also listed in the Links "Living in Korea" section) :)

Please help me keep the site up-to-date! Check if the restaurants you go to are listed, if the information is correct. Feel free to add info on busses, subway stops, landmarks, etc! I want it to be as user friendly as possible, and I think it's great that the English-speaking community supports these restaurants! The buffets are amazing! Even my non-veggie friends love them! Even my army-guy friends!!

I'd like to know where it is. SamYook also sells some raw kashews, veggie meats and organic eggs at the Wolpeong hokwon. I usually don't like soymilk but I love the SamYook brand and after eating Cheerios every day with soymilk for one month, my cholesterol dropped from 268 to 124. I'm trying to be a veggie but whenever I get frustrated with Korea I go to McDonald's. I don't even eat it at home!
We splurged and ate at VIPS last night since a friend has offered me an apt. It's my favorite place to eat. Last year there was a SamYook veggie buffet near Lotte Dept Store for about 7,000 won. I'll have to check and see if it's still open..................I just found an old card. If I'm reading the Korean right, the name is Sal-lim and the number is 042-486-1288. It's east of City Hall on their map (2F)

This guy made a map with all the veggie options in Seoul (used to be for the whole Korea, but recently changed).

You have to read Korean for the info on left, but at least there is map.

The color-coding on the side is for the vegetarianism degree... For example, has a few veggie options vs. is completely veggie. Will try to contact the guy and see what is the coding~
