Hi Karen,

I just searched online and there is no website in English but here are some details for Jindo what I found..

a. Weight : Average 20kgs
b. Size : (Male) 48~53cm (Female) 43~53cm
c. Some website said the Jindo is a so fastidious dog.
d. 12pm is the best time for feeding Jindo
e. Feeding 3 times a day is recommanded (Under 1year-old)
f. Walking is recommanded before feeding..
g. Someone said(who raising a thin Jindo) - boiled egg yolk + wet food is good for Jindo..
h. Too hot or too cold food is bad for Jindo / I this this is for all pets, :-(
i. Protein - 22~30%
j. Pork or chicken is not good for Jindo - it can help to get some fat but not recommanded.
k. If you can touch 3-4 ribs, then that Jindo is considering as thin..

Sorry I think this is just general information but these are things that I can find online.. Hope this can be just a little help.

Hi Gina,

Thanks for the info. :) It's very hard to find info about Jindos in English, you're right. Your answer is very helpful!

On http://www.kang.org/Jindo.html
I read : *Weight: For dogs: 15-20 kg (33-44 lbs); for bitches: 10-15 kg (22-33 lbs).

It doesn't sound like much for their size, so maybe they are supposed to be thin dogs...

Someone posted this comment on: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/answers2/frontend.php/question?qid=20080122035039AA9VLaX

"My Jindo Dog only eats once a day. Is this ok?
I mean, I give set out food for him twice a day (Canidae) but he only eats the food I give him at night. He leaves out the one in the day absolutely untouched. Should I stop giving him in the day and just increase night's amount so to save food and time?

This dog of mine leads an active life. He runs with me for 15-25 min thrice a week and if not, has his daily walk. Yes he's being fed for his size."

The best reply was:
"needs more exercise probably. you're feeding the correct amount for the size? if he's not eating enough, get him working for his food. a good walk or short run and return to the food.

edit: although you can feed your dog just once a day, i recommend you try getting him back to 2 bowls a day. don't want to bloat the dog.

edit: nvm i just looked up Jindo Dog, thought that was his name not breed lol. "A minimum of two, 30-minute brisk walks are necessary and should be enough to keep a Jindo happy" says dogbreedinfo.com so i'd stick to what i said above, your dog needs to exercise before his meals."

So maybe your doggy needs more exercise to be stimulated to eat more. Does he get to run a lot?

Finally (sorry I should have posted all this on the same post I guess),
you could join the jindo Yahoo group:
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/koreanjindolist/
Really sounds like an interesting place to share info among owners. I joined myself to use it as a resource.

Hope it helps,
Annie
