Volunteers will be going to the shelter in Daejeon (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/showthread.php?t=313) every weekend until it closes in July, 2008.
If you and/or friends would like to join them to volunteer to care for dogs or to choose a dog to foster or adopt, post here or send a message to Tim (http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/member.php?u=11) for directions. Non-Saturday trips can also be coordinated.
Tim coordinates visitors and volunteers from the Seoul area, but anyone willing to travel to Daejeon is welcome.
Please help the 140 dogs remaining at the shelter whose fate is uncertain. Spread the word that their time is limited and new homes are needed urgently.
Help save a life!

Hi guys!
I also go on other days when it's impossible for someone to come on a Saturday. I went to the shelter last Sunday and I am going back today (Sunday as well).
Thanks,
Annie

my husband and i would like to volunteer at the shelter some weekends as well as adopt the yorkshire terrier in the photo section. we live in daejeon. please send us an email at huff.minji@gmail.com
hello minji, I am glad that you are going to help out. I just wanted to post a reply to your's about the yorkie. She was one of my fosters, who was just adopted the other day. However, if I remember correctly, there were still a few more yorkies at the shelter, along with a couple yorkie mixed pups. :) Hopefully I will see you saturday.

Hi there,
I know the exit you want to get off at is called Seo Daejeon IC. That will take you to the Gwan Jeo Dong area of Daejeon, and the shelter is 10 minutes away.
I've posted a request for detailed driving directions to Daejeon on http://www.koreaontherocks.com/, am still waiting to hear back :(
Thanks so much for wanting to help. I think there are about 120 dogs left, but maybe someone who's been there recently can confirm?
yes, about 120 are left. Some new pups keep being born every couple months, even though the male shelter dogs are sterilized. Long story about that. Anyway, yes, 120 about.

We are willing to take two small ones to foster or one medium sized dog. We are looking to come up on the 8th.

Scarlet13, that's awesome that you can foster!! Yay! :)
To anyone visiting the shelter this weekend,
I know everyone is super busy on shelter days, but could someone take some new pics of the dogs that are remaining and either post them in a new thread or send them to me? I'd like to plaster the homepage with some more recent pics of who is still there waiting.
Thanks so much.

I just sent you a PM with driving directions from my map expert friend :) That will take you really close to the shelter, maybe someone can meet you at the Lotte Mart over there. :)
Hello ! Please place map there or send to my email.

The directions to the shelter exactly are a bit tricky, so it's easier to go with someone who knows the way. On top of that, the shelter manager does not want the directions made public.
If your friends from Russia want to adopt a pet, they should get in touch with Annie, Tim, or another volunteer who will meet them and bring them to the shelter.
Thanks!

I have had a few enquiries from people wanting to adopt one or more of the shelter dogs in order to breed from them - I should emphasise that all the shelter dogs have been neutered / spayed so anyone interested in the dogs from this perspective should probably look elsewhere.
Cheers
