Are there any big name animal rescue groups that could help the Deajeon dogs? I have tried PETA (for the record they suck and I am no longer a member), WSPA they referred me to their ASIA branch but they don't have email and so I will have to get some stamps, and the SPCA. I'm waiting for responses from a few more groups. These group DO run international rescues so it is possible.
A lot of the dogs are pure breeds, right? so what about contacting their respective rescue groups. Importing these dogs would be relatively easy? Just a health check and some shots right? Some of these dogs go for 2million won back home I'm sure people would be interested? Any ideas?

I was thinking the same thing, Scarlet. When I adopted Louise I couldn't believe I paid 30,000w for her. Back home, a purebred English Cocker Spaniel is at least 500,000w usually and the little Yorkies and such go for more.

WSPA is a very good organisation. I am a member.
They rescue many animals in the most horrible circumstances (bears in some countries have to dance in the streets for money and they are hit and tortured when they get tired). This is just one example :(
The shelter we are helping now is not the only one. Thousands of dogs get
killed weekly in Korean shelters, and I wonder if these organisations have the capacity to do much for these dogs.
Educating the children here and the people around you, starting with Korean friends is a start, and lets hope that things will get better in the future.
As for breed rescues, most of the dogs in the shelter are mixed breed. Still, if people are willing to pay for any of the dogs, they can be sent overseas. How easy or expensive that is depends on where the dog is to be sent.

I am a member of WSPA too. I have a lot of respect for them. I know its a long shot but at least I got a referral that is something.
PETA sickens me! I couldn't believe their response!
Some of the those sites mention rescuing mixed dogs as well. I'll see what I can find:)

What if the dogs were listed on western pet adoption sites? If there are people willing to pay to fly them to the States/Canada/Europe, whatever it may be... why not?

Sure! I have been posting on Europe's forums but Spain,Greece etc
are posting their many many stray dogs too so people choose them instead.
Only sending the rabies bloodtest to a Eu recognized laboratorium cost
100.000 Korean Won.It takes at least 3months before you get the certificat
from the lab before the dog cat travel.
I have to say that eventhough Europeans do love dogs a lot,the people who
can affort it usually prefer a dog from a responsible breeder and the people with less
money would want them but can't pay for it.
Adopting from Spain cost less because they are in the EU.
But Of Course if people in other countries sees those dogs posted and want them,
they are welcome to adopt them ;)
