I am a bit confused about Heartguard and Frontline medications for winter months.

Since adopting my dog in late March 2009 he takes both every month at 30 day intervals. His last dose of each was Sept 28th.

Can anyone give me any advice on if I can/should break these over the winter months and when it ok not to give them. The next dose due for both meds will be 28th Oct 2009.

If it makes any difference I live in a fairly remote area of Gangwon-Do.

thanks in advance.

Any vet in the U.S will definitely tell you that you should NEVER skip a month, even in the winter. Not ALL mosquitoes, ticks, etc die and you could put your dogs health in jeapordy if you skip months. Better safe than sorry:) Hope it helps!

Hey, yer bak! How's Diesel?

There are differences of opinion but, If you skip a month, he should be blood tested again.

In my opinion, inside dogs are much safer in the winter. Here, we can go out the front door and there are no mosquitoes. Then go out in the back yard and get eat up.
