Hi all, need some help.

Someone contacted me recently with a question about laws concerning buying sick dogs from pet shops.

Sadly, two days after purchasing a Jindo puppy from a shop on Chungmuro, she started showing signs of illness. The vet diagnosed the puppy with not only Parvo, but also Distemper and Corona Virus. The incubation period for these diseases all indicated that she contracted them while at the pet store. Tragically, the puppy passed away within a week.

I'm posting the person's question not only to inform people about the dangers of buying from pet shops, but also to see if anyone knows anything about the laws to protect people from this situation. I heard that if a puppy falls sick within 2 weeks that the pet shop can be held accountable in some way, but I don't know the details of the law.

If you have any information about sick pet shop puppy laws, please share.

Never, ever buy a pet from one of those stores. Ever.

There was a TV news story just last month about shops selling and re-selling dogs they knew were sick. The news crew used under cover cameras and purchased dogs, tested them (all sick) and returned them to the shops. The shops put them right back up for sale again -- lied to the 2nd news crew the next day, and the dog was purchased again. It died a few days later.

They also went so far as to dig through the garbage outside of these shops. They found fecal material in newspapers which carried various deadly diseases.

If you buy a pet from one of these places, expect it to die.
