Hey Everyone

Me and my dog aren't leaving until November so its still a little bit early but I'm trying to get everything in place now for arranging Chingu's travel.

When returning to the States I'm flying back to Denver, CO and of course there are no direct flights there. So my options are to either fly direct to Dallas, LAX, or SFO and then drive 14 to 16 hours to Denver or accept the fact that Chingu might have to change planes.

I know Chingu can hold his bladder for at least 12 hours and probably as long as 14 (not a good thing but he HATES to go in his kennel of course) so he could probably manage a direct flight. However, I know if he had to change planes he'd have to pee in his kennel which I'm sure would really upset him
(he's a jindo mix and about 45 lbs so he has to be shipped excess baggage/cargo). So I like the idea of being able to get him and give him a bathroom break and then stop regularly for him.

That said, I've never taken him anywhere in a car except one taxi ride from Gwangju to Gangjin which he didn't seem to care for too much. So I'm not sure what would be worse/more stressful on him. Either enduring probably a 17 to 19 hour flight process or having to fly 12 to 13 hours and then being picked up by me and having to drive in a car another 14 to 16 hours
(which could be really unpleasant if he doesn't handle car rides well).

Now my sister has been kind enough to offer to meet me wherever I end up and road trip with me back to Denver so she can help me get him at the airport and all that. This is why I'm trying to decide now so she can have enough advance notice to take off work and all that.

So I'd really like some input from those of you who have shipped your pet via cargo or excess baggage and either opted for a direct flight and drove the rest of the distance to your destination or just had your pet change planes.

Cost and time aren't the issue here its more about what will be the least stressful for Chingu. I'm kind of leaning towards driving him from Dallas but I am concerned that if he doesn't handle car trips well that would be worse than changing planes.

Thanks
