I recently read an article that said the average dog's intelligence is similar to a 2 year child. The dogs actually did better in a simple math skill test. I think it was Border Collies that scored the highest among the different breeds. Hunting breeds did the worst because they have consistently been trained to rely more on instinct than intellect.
