Hi all

I went to the Daejon shelter last weekend with Jennifer and Scott. They were looking for a dog to adopt but ended up taking two so they would have each other for company 

Seamus is a little yorkie terrier and Sadie is a little terrier mix. Seamus was quite outgoing at the shelter and took to Jennifer and Scott immediately, whereas Sadie was quite shy.

They seem to have settled in well to their new home – see the below update from Jennifer (and photos of them from the shelter).

There are still 142 dogs at the shelter – I will post quite a few pics of the dogs that are still looking for homes in the next few days.

Hi, Tim and Annie!

Seamus and Sadie are doing really, really well. They are just the most precious little things. We are really surprised at how well they have adapted to being with us, but it is definitely a happy surprise. They seem happy and comfortable here.

We took them to see our vet, Dr. Kim, on Saturday night after we got back to our neighborhood. They were pretty stressed out and tired after the train and taxi rides, to be honest. Anyways, she gave them check-ups, and here are the results:

*Seamus*
age: about 4 years
neutered: yes, but late (so he likes to hike his little leg sometimes!)
issues: ear mites, weak right hip (he is not supposed to jump too much or gain too much weight, but he hasn't read that memo yet...he just loves to play), needs dental work and basic grooming

*Sadie*
age: at least 5 years old, probably 6
spayed: no (but we will take care of that)
issues: dermatitis, needs serious dental work, basic grooming, nail trimming

We have made appointments to have their bloodwork done to check for antibodies to see if they need any more vaccinations, to get their heartworm kits done, and to get them all spiffy looking with clean teeth, trimmed nails, and new haircuts. They have a very busy week and a half ahead of them. Dr. Kim seems to think that they are pretty healthy, though, after her initial check-up.

The first night with us, they just ate and drank and then went to sleep on their blankets on the ondle floor. The second night, they suddenly realized that we were not sleeping on the floor...so they came searching for us...found us in our bed...and hopped right up! They have decided that they prefer to sleep on a flannel duvet with their Mommy and Daddy rather than on fleece blankets on the warm floor.

We have taken Seamus out for some short walks. He has a fleece doggie hoodie, so he stays warm. He's not really comfortable with all of the traffic in our neighborhood yet, so we have just taken him on short walks so that he doesn't get scared. When we're home, though, he is just the most amazing, loving little dog. He always wants to sit on our laps or next to us in our chairs. They both follow us from room to room, and they love it when we are in the kitchen cooking.

They are pretty good about going wee on the puppy pads. Sometimes, they have little accidents in other parts of our place, but they are doing much better today than yesterday. We also gave them baths yesterday, and they were so good-- they just stood there, let us get them wet and shampooed off, and then let us rinse them. They didn't run around crazy or anything. They just snuggled up to us when we dried them off.

Sadie is a changed little dog. She is still a bit skittish and quiet, but she has relaxed a lot. We can pet her and pick her up without her flinching. She sleeps and takes naps on our bed. She is chewing her first treat as I write this (she wouldn't accept treats before now). She just loves Scott and always wants to sit on his lap. We haven't taken her out yet, but she seems really happy and relaxed here.

Wow, OK, there is the journal of Seamus and Sadie's first 48 hours in Seoul. They are happy and healthy, and they are so loving and affectionate. It's amazing, considering what they have been through, that they can trust and love again. We just adore having them in our lives. We are a really happy little family.

We all hope that you have a wonderful Christmas! Thank-you both for helping us find our doggie children.

Merry Christmas!
Jennifer, Scott, Seamus, and Sadie
