Hello everyone...

this morning while walking I was walking our dogs one of our dogs got away. We have searched all day for him but have been unable to find him. Does anyone know if there are dog shelters in Bucheon that someone could have taken him to if they found him or what we can do to help locate him?

we're at wits end here and don't know what to do so any help would be amazing.

Ryan

How horrible! Which dog was it?

What I would advise is to print up posters (have a Korean friend translate for you) and post them all over the area, and especially at local supermarkets and shopping areas and make sure the area vets get copies as well, since if someone finds the dog, they may bring it to the vet. I would also advertise a reward on the poster as an incentive for people to keep their eyes open.

If your vet will allow it, list your vet's number on the poster so that he can handle Korean phone calls. Otherwise, you will find yourself flooded with calls that you can't understand. Some of them may be kids' pranks as well. You can also ask your vet about the shelters in Bucheon. I'm sure there must be some, and they generally do euthanize if dogs go unclaimed.

Good luck!

Its already -2 at 8pm we are devastated thinking of him out there ....
If anyone know where I could find out where all the shelters are in the area of Jung Dong, Bucheon I would be so grateful.

I'm so sorry! I do think postering, like Wibidad said, is the best first option, especially at the vet clinics. Here are some other things you can try:

1)
Phone numbers for Bucheon. I suggest calling the municipal office, or the Gu office that you live in to see if they have a shelter:

Bucheon Municipal Office(in line) Tel : 032-320-2114
Wonmi-gu Office (in line) Tel : 032-650-2114
Sosa-gu Office (in line) Tel : 032-340-6114
Ohjeong-gu (in line) Tel : 032-680-2114
Bucheon Educational Office Tel : 032-326-3100
Bucheon fire station Tel : 032-655-1119
Bucheon postal office Tel : 032-325-0003
Bucheon commercial chamber Tel : 032-663-6601
Bucheon telecommunication bureau Tel : 032-655-0050
North Bucheon telecommunication bureau Tel : 032-671-0020
Bucheon southern police Tel : 032-665-7000
Bucheon central police Tel : 032-618-1112

2)
Here's an animal shelter that was listed as serving Bucheon, but is actually in Kimpo: http://www.iworldpet.co.kr/. Even if it's far away, it may be good to send them a photo they can put up on a lost dog message board if they have one.
I found the website on this page: http://www.kaap.or.kr/new_site/s7.html?mode=read&idx=17989&page=1&page_list=1&db_name=s7&kwd=0

3)
There is a file called
"유기물동물보호/보호소(위치)/유기동물보호소 위치.hwp" (I think "locations of animal shelters") at the bottom of this page:
http://ojeong.bucheon.go.kr/WZ_CMS/board/view.asp?seq=5&page=1&tbcode=electron02&code=01&ViewType=board

I can't open the file because I don't have Hangeul Word, but I think it might list telephone numbers/addresses. I'm not sure if Ojeong Bucheon is near you...

4) Another lost dog message board you can check and/or post on,

LOST ANIMAL: http://www.lostanimal.or.kr/

I hope this helps.

Thank-you karen for your thorough response! that means so much.
We are so sad, but still hopeful, I got a korean co teacher to write out our posters in korean and put her cell number on it in the hope that people will call, (if they call us we wont understand them) we already had put alot out but we are going to flyer the entire area, every apartment in with in area. We miss him so much... :(
We are still trying to find out where there are bucheon shelters -no one seems to know - tho we heard of one near the botanical gardens...so we will try there and try calling the police (co teacher is helping with that too).

all prayers appreciated

Good news Samson has been found.

After plastering poster in the area Laura's co-teacher received a call from a man believing to have our dog. He came to Laura's school while we were away attending a workshop and Laura's coteacher videod the dog so we could confirm it was him. Once we contacted him through laura's teacher confirming it was our dog he then demanded 200, 000 won for his return. We eventually got him down to 60, 000 won and are picking up Samson tonight!

how nice of the man to demand a reward like that... the kindness of people...

I'm glad that you found him and that you'll be getting him tonight.

That's great news, what a horrible experience having to wait though. Anyway, so glad you've got him back.

I don't think asking for money is such a bad idea, it probably prevented people who weren't really his owners taking him, but 200,000 is a bit profiteering isn't it, holy crap! Good you talked him down.

I agree.. .the asking for money wasn't a bad idea, because if its not your dog then why would you pay to get it back, but I think the initial amount was a bit too much, trying to take advantage of the situation.
