So I thought I'd be able to get my dog to lose a little weight to make it in cabin. I underestimated how much he weighs until I used a digital scale. There is no way I can get his weight down. I think the lowest weight I can manage to get my dog and carrier down to is 5.8kg. Asiana and Korean Air have a 5kg restriction. Anyone try to get an over weight animal on board one of their planes? I can't put him under because he is a snub nosed little guy.

Hey there,
If you can try to change airlines, you might have more luck. Some airlines don't stipulate a weight, only that your pet can fit comfortably within a carrier that will fit underneath the seat in front (they'll have max dimensions on their website or check out www.pettravel.com). I'm about to fly with United, and they are one of the ones that don't specify a weight. It makes far more sense to me when they do it like that, because I know FOR SURE in the past I've taken on hand luggage that weight 4, 5 times the amount that my dog weighs. As long as that bag could fit in the locker or under the seat (or in those metal crates they have near check in, that are the max dimension and if it can fit in that, you're golden) there's been no problem.
Here's what pet travel say about united http://www.pettravel.com/airline_pet_rules/united.cfm
And here's what their actual website says (mentions the max dimensions if you scroll down) http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51255,00.html
Hopefully you can change airlines, if it's not already too late?!
Good luck :D
