Hi, many of you know who I am already, but for those of you who don't, I am Ryan, and my wife is Hee-su. I have been teaching music and English in Korea for 3 years now, and am planning on staying for about one more year, where then I will be moving back to the states to finish my schooling in either Veterinary Medicine, or med. school.

I have been involved with animals for my entire life, and involved with rescue/welfare for about 10 years now. I grew up on a dairy farm in Northern Wisconsin, and had first hand experience my entire life from many animals, from dogs, cats, chickens, goats, sheep, horses, cows, etc.

In Korea, I got involved with ARK a few months after it was formed (Lonely Lifetime at that time), after searching for rescue groups and organizations in Korea. I was doing stuff on my own, but wanted to meet others like myself.

We have two dogs in Korea, Baxter and Winnie. Baxter was rescued a little over two years ago in Gumi, where I found him in a garbage bag on the side of the street when he was about one day old. He was the only one out of six to survive. He is now full grown, and just the most loyal, amazing dog I have ever owned. Winnie just turned one on February 2nd. She was a shelter pup when the shelter was still located in Daejeon. I took her out because of the parvo scare that we had at the time, when she was just 5 weeks old, with the intent of fostering her. However, my wife (before we were married), took an immediate attraction to her, and that was it. She is a very active, but very sweet dog. She is extremely intelligent (she makes up for Baxter's lack of it. :) ), and a bundle of joy. You can see pics of them in my profile, or on facebook.

I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Hi Ryan and Hee-su!

Baxter & Winnie are pretty lucky to find you guys :)

Where are you thinking of studying vet medicine? Tuition fees are cheaper in Canada, and being from Wisconsin I imagine you can tolerate the cold? -at least better than my Missouri guy who starts complaining about Montreal winter in October.

No really though, I heard there was a good program at the University of Guelph (http://www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/) in the beautiful little city of Guelph, Ontario.

HAHA in October? Geeze he should come out to Saskatchewan! Six months of winter a year...:(

Guelph has an excellent school. So does the University of Saskatchewan (Western Collage of Vet. Medicine) they are the ones who are going to help Tiffany the nose-less Asan doggie.
