Boycott IAMS

Most people don't know that IAMS pet food company tortures dogs by confining them to tiny cages and performing tests. The dogs, if no longer useful, are sold to laboratories where further animal testing is performed. Here is an excerpt from http://iamscruelty.com/

For nearly 10 months in 2002 and early 2003, a PETA investigator went undercover at an Iams contract testing laboratory and discovered a dark and sordid secret beneath the wholesome image of the dog- and cat-food manufacturer: dogs gone crazy from intense confinement to barren steel cages and cement cells, dogs left piled on a filthy paint-chipped floor after having chunks of muscle hacked from their thighs; dogs surgically debarked; horribly sick dogs and cats languishing in their cages, neglected and left to suffer with no veterinary care.

So please do not support cruelty to animals.

Great to hear from other boycotters... I have actually militated against Iams for the past 4 years. Many of my friends changed their food. I also sent them a petition with about 60 names of people who would boycott their food. They replied that my data was outdated and that they didn't conduct tests anymore... They said they changed lab to conduct their tests and that they are now humane. They claimed that they didn't know about what was going on in their old lab. However, they won't let PETA get into the new lab and check the conditions......

Please, boycott Iams!!!

Isn't IAMS (made in China) the one that poisoned and killed several dogs last year due to a fake protein additive? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't buy it anyway, but now I have another reason.

Sort of. IAMS was one of 60+ companies whose dog and cat food products were recalled in 2007. The toxic ingredient was made in China but the products themselves were produced in the US, I believe. Could be wrong on that.

IAMS is awful. My mom's cousin's husband works for IAMS on a corporate level and my mom tried to get me to apply for a job with him and I laughed in her face.
I don't see how a pet owner could feed their animal IAMS food knowing what they do.

Yeah, I have been boycotting their products for years. You have to be careful though, almost all of the pet foods sold at your local vet's office will be from Iams. They are a huge campany that produces various dog foods under different names:( So you have to be sure to check the copy write information at the bottom.

The pet food recall was terrible, I am afraid of wet food now (most dry foods where OK) but I had a friend whose beautiful orange persian was killed after ingesting tainted food:(

Has anyone seen the documentary about Greenies? I thought they were pulled last year as well, but I see them here under another name. They are mostly in the shape of a bone and really look like plastic. When they're chewed up and ingested, they clump up over time in the intestinal tract and cause blockage and will eventually kill the dog. If anyone knows about horses, it would be similar to the horse dying from colic due to strongid infestation and blockage. It's a horrible death and I heard of one case where I kept my horse at The University of Tennessee Equestrian Center. That horse was in such excrutiating pain that he busted out of the stall and ran until he dropped dead. The way to prevent this is to worm them regularly.

The greenies' pieces will show up in an x-ray of the dog.

You said you feed him Natural Balance...NB. There is a running shoe called New Balance...NB. I envisioned your dog having New Balance shoes for dinner. ;)
