When I adopted Bopbi from the shelter in Daejeon, the E-Mart vet said she had a very bad ear infection and to clean her ears once a week. He gave her a very good cleaning that day. So I bought some Epi-Otic ear cleansing stuff and she seems to have been doing fine before today. She's been scratching her ears a lot, crying when she scratches, walking in circles and walking with her head tilted to one side. Some animal sites I've been to said the head tilt and walking in circles may be an inner ear infection. I'm going to take her to the vet on Monday but does anyone know a good way to keep the ears clean on my own after the vet clears this up? I can't seem to really get in her ears good before she starts shaking her head and crying.

Hi , it is very dangerous to do a real cleaning by yourself . I have a foster dog myself right now
with serious ear infection . I have to take her to the vet every 3days to clean her ears
and this will go on for at least a month . AT the same time the dogs has to take medicine
every day . I remember that you took her a few weeks ago , if the earcleaning at the vet
was the only time , it was really not enough .The vet should have told you to see another
vet where you live right away . An earinfection can reach the brains ,you have to go to the
vet ASAP ! Let me know how it went and take care !

How are Bobpi's ears doing? Did the vet put her on antibiotics or anything? I hope she's feeling better :(

I just came back from a visit to my parents' and one of their dogs has really sensitive ears. My mom was told not to use Q-tips for cleaning because they were too abrasive, to use cotton balls instead with the ear-cleaning liquid from the vet.

Yeah I took her to the vet here. He cleaned her ears out really well (now she doesn't stink anymore) and gave her two shots and gave me medicine to give her. I'm taking her back tomorrow for a checkup.

BUT

She's peed on my bed twice! Just a few minutes ago and she did maybe the week after I got her. Any reason why she may be doing this? When she has to go to the bathroom she walks around by the door and I take her out. So I'm not sure why she's peeing on my bed. And it's always RIGHT before I go to lock her in the cage and go to sleep. It's 3am and now I have no blankets for bed. Ugh.

I am so sorry about the peeing in bed. This is why it is important
not to keep dogs in bed until they get completely trained.
My mini pin was 1year old when i rescued her.She could not enter
my bed until maybe about a year after the rescue.
The point is that you don't know a dog too well when you adopt
them from somebody or a shelter. Or rescue from the street.
They need firm training. Once they understand that you are the
master and that you deside what happen in the household, including
caging her,you can slowly share some of your private spots in the
house like your bed.Your dog has to understand that the bed is your
spot and she cannot pee there. She can only be there when you invite
her.

Peeying or poop on a spot you don't want is a protest. They want to
show you their power since they cannot communicate.

The 2other dogs i have were 5months and 3months old puppies so
they understood from the beginning that the bed is mine. They could
not climb by themself which was good,so they only could come up if
i let them. Now they are both about 2years old and never ever would
pee in my bed.

Raising an adult dog is another story.People underestimate the situation
and give the dogs right away a life they are not used to.Be firm.
I hope the peeing in bed is over by now, good luck!
