Avid and Virbac.
They are both international.
Both can be read by the Virbac scanner
Both can be read by the Avid scanner.
Both are 125 kHz

Avid is American.
The Avid scanner is large and cumbersome.

Virbac is French.
The Virbac scanner is the size of your fist.
Virbac is used by Seoul National Univ who ships animals to America.
Macro has used Virbac since 1999.
Virbac scanner is convenient and costs $165.00

I will eventually buy one since it's recommended if you travel...just in case they don't have your particular scanner available.

***The majority of the microchip scanners within the United States is unable to read frequencies other than the 125 kHz microchips at this time. They cannot read the ISO 134.2 kHz chips at this time.
***The ISO microchip is not available in the US but is available in Canada and has become the Canadian standard microchip.
