Daejeon's shelter housing around 200 dogs is URGENTLY in need of foster or adoptive parents. The shelter is being forced to close by the end of the month.

There are about 10-15 Jindo type dogs, and all the rest are small, from chihuahua size to cocker-spaniel size. There are many different breeds and quite a few mixed ones as well. Please help find homes for them so that they don't have to go to the killing shelter!

NOTE: for updates on who has and hasn't yet been adopted, see: http://www.lonelylifetime.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=131 (Nov. 17th)

Attached are pics from last week's shelter trip - it was a successful visit with 4 dogs being adopted/fostered (thanks Pam, Priscilla, Alicia and Hera) and one dog being taken to the Emart vet for a much neded hernia operation.

We have received some very bad news that the local council is going to shut down this shelter by the end of October so all the dogs there are now in desperate need of new homes - anyone who is interested please contact me at tim.vasudeva AT gmail.com or on my mobile 010 8940 5233, we will be organising weekly trips to Daejon (every Saturday) between now and the end of the month for people who are interested in visiting the shelter and perhaps adopting one of the dogs.

Hi niyadog,

I've sent you an email with an adoption application and Annie in Daejeon's contact info.

Thanks so much for wanting to adopt!

Hi Karen,

I just found about this site today.

I'm a member of one of the largest dog communities in Korea.

The website is http://cafe.naver.com/dogpalza and we have over 35,000 members.

I just read the tragic news about the Daejeon shelter.

Do you know whether it already closed down?

I posted an article in our community board that there are many dogs that need to be adopted.

I hope I can help in any possible way.

Thank you very much.

Cheers!

Hana

Hi Hana!
thank you so much for helping us spreading the word.
We received an extension from the city hall as we proved we were trying to solve the problem. They gave us between 3 and 6 months, but more than 150 dogs still need a home (we got around 50 out in the last month).
Thanks!

Unfortunately, it won't be possible to translate the website into English.

However, if there are many, many people who want to adopt dogs in our community.

I posted the article about this website and they also expressed their concern that they don't understand English.

I also posted at another community http://cafe.naver.com/lovedogcafe and it is specialized communtiy for abandoned dogs.

I am not sure how much it would help but some people started to contact me to find the way to adopt a dog or a cat.

I'll help as much as I can with any adoption between our members and fostered dogs.

Thanks! Hana
