Update (June 8): Floyd went home with his wonderful new family this morning!

Update (May 22): Exciting news for Floyd! This special guy could be heading to his forever home very soon!

Update (April 21): Floyd had a fun-filled day today!
First stop was the vet for a quick check-up. This new vet said there is NO way that Floyd is a senior dog. He did a thorough eye and teeth check and said he's probably around 5 years old. That is much more in line with how he acts and looks!

Next stop was a nearby dog cafe where Floyd had a blast socializing and playing around with the other pups, big and small. He even stiffed around the resident mini pig trying to convince it to play ^^ This is the first time we've been able to let Floyd romp around on his own with other dogs, and we were so happy to see how nicely he behaved with his new friends!

Consider bringing this sweet, loving boy into your home!

Update (April 1): Floyd is doing wonderfully in his foster home, but he is still looking for his forever family!

Check out Floyd trotting along on a walk and showing off his hand-shake skills!

Great things about Floyd:

* calm and gentle, friendly with kids & adults
* very quiet, rarely barks
* completely house trained
* healthy & up-to-date on vaccines
* so cuddly and loving
* can sit, stay, & shake
* friendly with calm, shy dogs

* loves attention and is eager to please
* smart!! he learns very quickly
* respects boundaries in the house
* doesn't chew on anything
* loves to go on walks
* is patient during baths and loves being brushed

Update (March 6): This lovely boy is still waiting for his forever home :) Please keep him in mind.

Update (January 15): Floyd is doing great in his foster home :) He was always meant to be a part of someone's family.

Update (November 7): Just got an update on Floyd. I just knew this wonderful boy would do great in a home. So far he has had NO accidents in the house, and is so gentle, and has transitioned beautifully and is perfectly natural in a home. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it from the first time I met him, he must've been someone's pet at one point. I am so happy he's doing well in his foster home and his foster parents already love him :) :) :)

Update (November 3): Floyd went home with his foster parents today, yippiiieeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update (October 30): Floyd is one step closer to getting adopted into a forever home. He has a foster home lined up, they are a wonderful couple who will pick him up this Saturday! So happy for this wonderful boy :) :) :)

Update (October 21): Arghhh, it's just so sad that Floyd is still at the shelter! He is so perfect! In fact, some volunteers met him for the first time, and within the first 30 seconds of being with him, said that he would be so easy to adopt, and he would transition so well. It only took 30 seconds! He really is so deserving of a home, and he would be so easy to bring home :D

Update (September 29th): I am really, really pushing for a foster or adopter for this amazing guy. He is one of those dogs that I just know will transition beautifully into a home. Please consider taking him home and giving him a chance to show how wonderful he is. I'm hoping we will be able to walk the dogs again so I can get a video of how wonderful he is with people, other dogs, and on leash.

Update (September 28th): Floyd wants YOU! To be his forever family. Floyd really is one of the most adoptable dogs at this shelter. He knows simple commands, walks well on a leash, is not a barker, is very gentle even when he jumps up to put his paws on you, and just has the best personality.

Update (August 22nd): The past Saturday, our task was to put collars (with the dogs' names) on each dog. Obviously, this was a bit of a task with a lot of them as they're quite shy. But Floyd was super happy to see the collar and sat like a good boy for me to put it on; I felt so bad. I think he thought he was going out for a walk. He is such a sweet dog and gets along with everyone. He even foregoes treats in favour or human affection. Please consider adding him to your family; I believe he would make a perfect family pet :)

Update (July 21st): Poor Floyd, still waiting for a human to call his own. He is the most amazing, sweetest dog - why is he still living in a shelter? He deserves so much more.

Update (July 8th): Floyd is still waiting for someone to take him home and show off what a wonderful dog he is. He is such a good boy, I don't think I have ever heard him bark. He loves to give kisses and he will stand up and put his paws on your tummy, but very gently, so he doesn't scratch you by accident. Even though he is very sad noone has adopted him so he can shower them with kisses, he maintains his beautiful and positive spirit, day after day.

From my first visit to Yangju, Floyd caught my eye - he has such soulful eyes. He shares his kennel with a pudgy Jindo who is friendly enough to humans and well-behaved when I am in the kennel, but when left alone with Floyd, he bullies him. I often find Floyd hiding in his doghouse, but he has learned to recognize me and will eagerly paw at me to pick him up and give him some well-deserved love. He even ignores treats, in favour of some human affection. I walked Floyd once, and he was so good on the leash, and when we ran into the other volunteers, he sat in front of them, and nudged at them to give him a pat on the head. He really loves people, and was very good when passing by other dogs, he was never the one to show aggression. I think Floyd would do well with another dog that is not too dominant. Please consider giving this lovely boy a forever home :)

Floyd is still waiting at the shelter for his forever home. He is a lap dog trapped inside a big boy's body. He absolutely loves to be picked up and will stay in your arms happily for as long as you can hold him ha ha. I've also learned he knows how to "sit" and because of his good socialization skills with people and obedience, I believe he used to be someone's pet. Please come and pay him a visit and I guarantee you won't be able to help falling in love with him!

Hello from Floyd's foster mom and dad!

Floyd has been doing so fantastic in our home! He's a natural and already feels like family.
So far, he hasn't had a single accident in the house. We take him for three walks a day: in the morning, after work, and later in the evening. He is always quick to do his business! Floyd loves to go for walks. He gets so excited that he still pulls on the leash quite a bit and loves to sniff everything ^^ He especially loves walking the backstreets, as cars and busy roads make him a little bit nervous.

Floyd is such a gentle, affectionate guy. On walks, he is friendly with anyone who wants to pet him. At home, he loves to snuggle on the couch and give TONS of kisses. He never barks when we (or the neighbors) come home. Actually, we've only heard him bark twice, both times at an episode of Game of Thrones!

Floyd had a visit to the vet this weekend. He is heartworm negative! The vet said Floyd is about 9 years old and very healthy. He just needs a round of vaccines and possibly some work on his teeth.

We're hoping to get some pictures of Floyd outside once the weather clears up!

Thanks so much for the update Amanda!! I'm so happy that he has had no accidents; lucky you :D He seems to be doing amazing with you guys and I'm happy to hear he is healthy. I am however, SHOCKED to hear that he is about 9-years-old?!?!? Ha ha, he acts like a young dog; and we all guessed around 5 maybe!! Can't wait to see more pictures :) :) Tell him I say hello!

Floyd is the perfect apartment dog! He is so calm when we're inside -- he's content to cuddle on the couch, learn tricks, or just chill out. He has gained a lot of confidence, but is still as gentle and quiet as always. We love seeing his tail up and wagging ^^ Once outside, he gets more energetic! He loves to go on long walks and explore.

We had guests over one evening this weekend, and Floyd was a perfect gentleman. He was very friendly, not shy at all. He greeted everyone with a lick and a tail wag. Floyd is a smart dog -- so far, he can sit and (mostly) stay. We also don't let Floyd into the bedroom, and even when the door is open he knows not to go inside.

Floyd was born to be a part of someone's family!

Time has flown by since our last update! Floyd is still a fantastic dog waiting for an equally fantastic family to call his own.

He is enjoying his daily walks in the snow. We've taken him to the local elementary school a few times and he enjoys being able to run around without having to worry about cars. He's very friendly with all of the children who play there, staying calm and patient even when they get a bit too rambunctious!

Floyd is now very good at staying in his sit postion until he gets a treat or a pat on the head. He sits automatically now when we get into the elevator. He can shake, too! When we're inside, he always comes when called, but he's still working on being a good listener outside among all the distractions.

Floyd is such a snuggler. He is not shy about squeezing right up next to you for a good cuddle.

My husband and I have had Floyd home with us for almost two weeks. He's doing great! Such a sweet boy, he would happily take pets for as long as we could give them. Any time we stop, he lets us know he's ready for more with a lick or paw to the hand.

We've had fun at the dog park and he loves running around the rooftop garden every day--it's like a big yard! At first he didn't ever want to come inside (there's a little stubborn streak there), but now that he knows it's a regular thing he's OK with it. We also had a needed but not-so-fun trip to the vet to get his teeth cleaned. He wasn't happy about that but was a very good boy, and now his teeth look much better and his mouth isn't stinky at all.

He's a wonderful dog, and I'm amazed that it took so long for him to find a forever home. We're lucky to have him as part of our family now and are so thankful to his foster parents for taking good care of him and making it all possible. :)

Floyd loves to play outsideNap time"Why aren't you petting me right now?"Handsome boy

Aw, yay! So happy! I always knew he would be amazing in a home :) He was one of the first dogs I created a profile for on Yangju because I just totally fell in love with him. You are very lucky to have him, and he is very lucky to have you guys :)

Thank you for the update! We are so happy he's settling into his new home so well! He looks so happy :)

Another quick update: Floyd's little sister arrived a month ago. He's a little unsure about this whole baby thing and not always being the center of attention but is still a good big brother. We knew he would be because he's so gentle and sweet. Here's a couple of pictures of snuggle/nap time on the couch (his favorite place for pets).

megs's picture

Awww, that's really great to hear! I'm sure he'll come around and love the little sister more than anything in the world. :)

bluebee's picture

Aww, melts my heart! I hope they become the best of friends ^^
Thank you for the update, and congratulations!!

Just wanted to share a recent picture of Floyd and Fiona cuddling on the couch while she learns how to give him nice pets. He's so patient with her--such a good boy! :)
