Description:

Meet little Lilah, a four month old mix doggy. She was found covered in dirt and ticks on a military installation and brought to our clinic. Lilah was terrified when she came into our clinic, but was completely patient during her exam and her extensive clean up. It took us all day to clean her up and ensure there were no more ticks on her little body.

Lilah is very much a puppy and she recovered from her traumatic experience by day two. She loves to run around and play with toys. Her favorite toy is a little rope toy that she throws around and chews on. She is currently teething, so the rope toy helps relieve her gums, especially when I soak it in water and freeze it. Lilah also enjoys the occasional frozen puppy Kong stuffed with yummy treats and food for her meal. She is currently learning that not everything is a chew toy. We have all been consistent to deter her away from chewing things she's not supposed to by giving her the toys she is meant to chew on. She is incredibly smart and is learning rather quickly for being so young. Lilah is even potty trained! As long as we are consistent with potty breaks, she will only go to the bathroom outside. She is allowed to run around a large enclosed area, supervised, and never has any accidents. She also never has any accidents when she's in the kennel at night. Lilah is also quiet in her kennel. She doesn't bark or whine when it is time to be in her kennel and will typically go to sleep. Then, in the morning, she doesn't bark or whine when she wants to come out of her kennel.

Lilah gets along with cats as well as dogs! There is a kitty at our clinic right now, Minnie, and they are slowly becoming friends. Lilah really wants to play with Minnie, but Minnie just taunts her by being on the floor with Lilah and walking around her, but not playing with her. They do, however, enjoy lounging on a large dog bed together.

Lilah is a cuddle bug! She LOVES attention and has no objections to giving you those sad puppy eyes when you are not lavishing her with love and pets. She has the cutest expressions and the sweetest nature. She is also perfectly content with just playing alone.

Lilah is only a little bit over 6lbs and I don't foresee her getting too much over 15lbs (if that). She looks like a mini golden puppy, but she obviously isn't a golden and we honestly are not sure what she is. Lilah currently does not have vaccines just yet, but before she goes into a forever or foster home, she will receive DA2P vaccine, Lepto vaccine, Rabies vaccine, another dewormer (only if it has been a month since we got her), and her spay surgery will be covered.

24 August 2013

On Wednesday 21 August, Lilah was spayed! Yay! She absolutely hates her cone of shame, but loves all of the extra love and attention everyone is giving her because of it. She sure does know how to use her sad little puppy dog eyes to get her way.

Lilah also has her adoption pending. I look forward to all the wonderful things coming to Lilah. She has no idea!
